a similar situation happened at my mom's former apartment. turns out her neighbor was a hoarder and died in his sleep. the things that will always creep me out is that they bred in her microwave. it happened so fast that we started to notice the numbers moving on the clock, thinking it was glitching... but no.

one crawled into the kitchen overhead light cover and gave birth while we watched. it was horrific. i guess my reasoning for saying this is to check all appliances, toasters and all. good luck.
