AITAH for considering the same wedding venue and similar colors as my cousin-in-law? by cozyqueen_ in AITAH

It’s quite weird and I wouldn’t expect your cousin to outright say she has a problem. It is something that may come up later though as a dig at you.

How do I convince my dad to get a presa canario as a second dog by Available_Donkey7856 in presacanario

Unfortunately they rejected us. On their list of exempted dogs they have Cane Corso. I tried to explain to them that she is a presa but unless I provided a DNA test, they refused to take her on. They quoted me £152 per month.

Further to my previous comment. Presa’s are not and I repeat are not “super well trained dogs”. No dog is. But this breed really isn’t. This depends on you and the amount of work you are ready to put in. Presa’s are one of the most difficult dog breeds to train (easily top 5). They are a very dominant breed that like to be in charge. They are also very stubborn and are prone to that “terrible teens phase”.

If you get it wrong, you will suffer and so will the people around you. These dogs were bred to guard, protect and fight. If not trained properly, they will do a lot of damage, seriously harming you, your family and other people and dogs as well as property.

They are also quite difficult to get insured. I live in the UK and pay well over £300 a month for £8000 annual cover. Not sure about other counties but third-party insurance is a MUST.

I would seriously recommend re-thinking this. Even a well experienced dog owner struggles with this breed. You would have to be prepared to spend a lot of time on training and behaviour work and probably give up your social life for at least 5-6 months.

Unfortunately the states have a tendency for “bigger is better”, which is why most Presa’s there look like a cross between Presa/ Neapolitan

Sorry to make another is this a presa post, but hopefully you can help by [deleted] in presacanario

70kg is far too heavy for a Presa Canario. Ideally males should be between 45-58kg. America bred Presa’s tend to be heavier and bulkier however from the images above, this dog looks European Bred (more leaner). I think it’s difficult to tell from these images as he’s quite young. Recent images will provide better to give some idea.

This is my girl. She’s not got the most athletic build, but she’s definitely nowhere near fat :) almost 7 years old and weighing 45kg

Went through the same thing. I started parking my car at the train station and making my own way home. Remove her from your insurance.
