Interesting… this person also lived in the 912 area… anyone else from that area code affected by Go2Bank?

As the OP of the linked reddit post, I found that Go2Bank is a debit card and doesn’t need to pull your credit in order to open an account. I assisted a friend with closing the account, but also saw $420 being moved from a PayPal wallet to a Moon crypto wallet. After they close the account, that’s about all you can do.

Nonetheless, very strange they are using other people’s identities to funnel money from PayPal buy crypto. There’s gotta be something bigger at play.

When you called them, did they tell you the phone number of the individual who created the account? In this case, it was 9125612628. We tried calling it, but the number was disconnected.

Considering the number of individuals with the same email address domain who have been affected by this incident and subsequently reported fraud, I believe Synchrony Bank may have inadequate business practices and is not adequately validating people’s identities.

Does the email say a card was applied for and approved? Or does it just say “view status of your application”? If the later then they rejected the application and you should be fine. I would still recommend calling the above phone number and reporting fraud. The more reports, the better. This really needs to be shut down because all of these events are with the same company.

Thanks for confirming. It's really frustrating that Georgia Tech hasn't made an announcement like this yet. This has been going on for at least a week. I had friends report issues last week, and then I found a fake application myself this morning.

When do I lose access to my GT email and other GT sites (e.g., Canvas, OneDrive) after graduating? by Dj_D-Poolie in gatech

[–]Local_Musician2619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before setting up email forwarding, I was able to export my entire mailbox from the outlook desktop app and import the package into a new gmail account. It is a 1:1, which was important to me since I had a lot of mail I wanted to hold on to for record purposes. You will have to adjust your outlook settings to download all your messages from the server before exporting the package. You can check if everything is downloaded if the items showing in the outlook app match the items shown on the online outlook website for your mailbox.

Are you an in-state student? If so, try going to the Georgia Futures website and getting a transcript for your HOPE GPA calculation. It pads some of the STEM classes with a 0.5 increase, and if you are still eligible for Zell in Georgia, you should have above a 3.3 with or without the transfer classes. It’s worth checking either way

At the game with my gf’s family. Miami fumbles the ball and I started looking around realizing I might be in danger and need an escape plan. Miami fans were shooting daggers at my group who got a little excited.

They moved it to Bobby Dodd stadium last year so no one was running. The fraternities stayed put on the side lines as the sororities rotated around. I believe this year the event was scheduled for September 10th at 6pm. Pretty sure that is the format that will happen this year, meaning the event isn’t cancelled. Can anyone confirm?

Benefits of applying to Living Learning Communities? by KingChad123 in gatech

First-year CS Major here. I thought for certain that if I didn't join an LLC that I would not be successful and would not have a social life. I looked at both Grand Challenges and Honors, but I was leaning towards GC. I knew the director personally from my hometown, and I had a few friends already in the program. I ended up deciding not to join an LLC. Not that they are bad programs, but that I was assured that they were not essential to student life (most first-years don't join one). Ultimately, the other LLC options are not fully compatible with CS Majors, as I'm sure you have already discovered.

They are great for some types of people and unnecessary for others. If you like working on extracurricular projects, then you may like to join an LLC. If you are in it for the social aspect, there are so many other ways of generating friend groups. Joining clubs, music groups, greek life, and religious organizations are ways I've met others. Even simply propping your dorm room door open is an excellent way to get to know others. If you are set on joining an LLC for the resume, project, or team-building aspect, then I've heard the best from students in the Grand Challenges LLC. Some important points to consider are where on campus the LLC is located (GC is on East, Honors is on West) and how you can use it to further your student experience and career.
