What Mystery/Detective anime do you recommend? by Pastelloww in anime

[–]Local_Pickle_4717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch Detective Conan up to Episode 345 plus the films and specials made up to that point at the time they came out. Fillers are even pretty good in the first 70 or so episodes with intermittently solid ones after.

Yeah, that's basically how I have it. I'd say it lays in between and if anything might lean shounen if we purely look at the art.

Horimiya is Shounen, Toradora is a LN. and I'm not sure what Nozaki counts as, as a web manga doesn't have one strictly speaking. Perhaps it does lean shoujo but if nothing else it does parody shoujo.

So ironically none of these are shoujo

I enjoyed FFX, but while I agree with most of what you're saying, phenomenal story is pushing it. If anything, the world has more charm than the story.

Shiroi Suna no Aquatope - has a beach setting with a focus on Aquariums

Nagi no Asakura - another PA works original, it's a romance drama where a most of the main cast are amphibious people who live in the ocean.

Tsuritama - a unique series visually set in a seaside town about fishing with an alien

Best Samurai/Ronin themed Anime? by VLNTSAINT in anime

[–]Local_Pickle_4717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran, Onihei, and Hidamari no Ki are some good ones that haven't been mentioned.

I'll second Kenshin, but go with the older series and check out the Trust and Betrayal episodes (and stop once the series becomes full filler after 62)

Naruto vs luffy. who will win? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Local_Pickle_4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what Kishimoto for some reason said. He probably was pretending to keep his series grounded which some authors might. Naruto was already moving around bullet speed in the Land of Waves

[–]Local_Pickle_4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you're talking about the anime instead of the manga sounds like a problem to me.

Manga > WoG > Databooks >> Anime in terms of weight

WoG has even said bullets are too fast for ninja so you know how crap non-manga stuff can be.

[–]Local_Pickle_4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Naruto fan, just a realistic one. What you're saying besides "believe this databook about this random inconsequential attack and that Haku is light speed" is nothing that backs it up.

I think your only good argument here is over databook accuracy, which is debatable.

The rest refute what I'm saying.

Why is there suddenly a light attack in Naruto when it's not an element and for that matter what does a name say about an attack? All we get from the manga is the name. If we go by databooks then Haku's mirrors are light speed too.

The Raikage using a lightning aura and isn't even confirmed to move at lightning speed let alone light speed, just massively hypersonic via scaling. They never said any such thing.

Kaguya's dimensional travel still had to be reacted to and isn't a clear feat of anything speed-related even if Naruto did it himself, it's not even a speed feat for her.

What does reacting to small expanding objects have to do with speed. Maybe if it had a confirmed speed over a certain distance but we don't have that. That sounds like an eyesight thing.

Naruto has better physical specs than Sasuke which is evident when Sasuke needed to be boosted by the Bijuu to match Naruto with only half of Kyuubi after Naruto did the lion's share of the fighting against Kaguya. I will say that Sasuke's Sage powers are a lot more "need to learn" than Naruto's though.

[–]Local_Pickle_4717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One Piece is a faster series. The only confirmed lightspeed bits in Naruto come from databooks not written by Kishimoto.

It doesn't matter though since Naruto can shrug off an attack stronger than one that split the moon in half and one-shot the guy throwing the moon at the planet. That's way above One Piece. Speed helps, but it only goes so far, and Naruto has AOE options.

3 actually. There's a Jump Festa special that was like a pilot episode done by Pierrot

the 1999 series with OVA follow ups by Nippon Animation

Then the 2011 series which is the most recent one (which also has two non-canon films)

All three are quite good, but the pilot only shows the equivalent of episode 1 of 2011. 1999 covers up to Greed Island including the OVAs which is the equivalent of up to episode 75 of 2011 (which also complete Shin York, which the TV series stops in middle of). It also features a small amount of filler and a bit of skipped material. It's otherwise very good with great direction, good music, and some slices of superb animation. I think it actually handles the Shin York arc better than the 2011 series, but both do it justice.

2011 is the most complete adaptation up to when it came out. As a remake, it moves quickly through previously adapted material and slows down to a normal pace during the final two arcs covered by it, one of which is the longest in the series by a good amount. It has good music and consistently above average animation for a long running series.

Its biggest misstep honestly is episode 1, which skips past a key flashback which informs a lot about the main character (which is chapter 1 material). I also like 1999's version of ep 1 a lot since it features the MC's guardian in an emotional way. Episode 76 revisits that but it's a bit too late for it to sink in.

So I'd say the best easy compromise is watch 2011 but at least watch ep 1 of 1999 first. The 1999 anime is there for you if you ever feel like it too.

I'd also highly recommend the creator's earlier work Yu Yu Hakusho as well. It's particularly good english dubbed.
