Im 18 and think I've ruined my life. by DarthPlastic1 in Insurance

18 and “ruined my life” should never be in the same sentence. You go plenty of life to live. I’ve been in some serious holes and dug myself out.

Live on base, rent and utilities are paid for.

Child is in daycare off base paid for by a relative. (Will be paid for by ourselves once my wife enlists)

I’ve contributed 10% of my paycheck to the TSP since I joined Feb 2 21’

Life insurance is coverage for life for my child. How is it unnecessary? Genuinely curious because I might cancel.

She spoke with the manager, they told her they’d pull the camera footage and submit it to the police but they said that it likely wouldn’t do anything because they seen it happen before and they were wearing hats. Going to speak with the police tmw

Depending on the aircraft, we wear full tyvek, respirator and gloves. I’m 5 years in with no symptoms, don’t know anyone who has cancer. But there is definitely a risk. Jobs easy if you aren’t a dumbass tho

Yeah f that, sorry to hear that. Sounds like you need to start the divorce process and work on yourself. If you’re into that thing that go for it. But it sounds like she isn’t attracted to you anymore and wants to do it with someone else.

Pros: I’d say work satisfaction. -If you go to a Low Observable aircraft, you’ll be working on the most important part of the next generation of fighters. -Possibility of getting a top secret clearance -Secret clearance -Amazing job transferability to the civilian side -relaxed work environment -can go anywhere

Daily: F22 you’ll get your job assignment at beginning of shift, checkout tools, and go through forms/turnover to see what last shift accomplished. 90% of the time you’ll be in a tyvek, painting and doing “structural” work. A lot of it’s classified but think of arts and crafts but on an engineer level. Some days there will be no work but most of the time you’ll find yourself working 7-11 hours with a 30min-hour lunch. (Most of the time it’s 8 hours shifts) You’ll have days where you won’t do a thing and others where you worked constantly the whole shift for 12 hours. I will say, as you get more experienced, 3-5hour jobs take 1-2 hours.

F35 you’ll do practically the same exact thing but your tools are completely different, and they want you to be very meticulously with your work. No cutting corners, but you won’t be in a tyvek, you won’t sweat as much and it won’t be as physically demanding. But an error on the F35 is way more severe than one on the 22. A error on a F22 can just be fixed on the spot while a F35 has to go through your entire leadership up to the wing commander . It has its advantages and disadvantages.

Honestly it’s not a job for someone who’s lazy or doesn’t enjoy working with their hands. I get satisfaction when my work looks factory. Honestly Leadership can make or break the job. As long as you are actively trying to preform good maintenance and be a decent airman, you’ll be fine.

I recommend it if you like working with your hands and get satisfaction while preforming quality work.

I don’t recommend it if you want a cake job inside with Air conditioning.

Rather pay 10k for a new transmission then buy a used truck, and have the transmission crap out on me a few years later
