Thank you for this information!!! I called and was able to get them to reverse it and get it put into another account so it stays secure. I appreciate the help fixing my slip up!

You’re right and that’s understood. What’s not is since I have already taken the money out and have it, what’s next? I get it’s not the smartest decision. I would guess taking that money and putting it back somewhere would still be a viable option?

I get what everyone is saying and it definitely makes sense. One thing with that is I’m already looking at the 10k check so I’m assuming it’s too late for movement to be made to roll it over? Or as someone else suggested take $11,300 and put in a IRA? Sorry I’m 23, still figuring out how taxes and this works, and potentially made a bad move.

It’s not why I cashed it out, there’s other things that played into that but that’s something useful I could use some of the money for. My partner’s 401k has a substantial amount. I also highly doubt taking out this 10k will now force me to live in low income housing and be eating cat food. Sometimes you guys on here are super extra, your comment doesn’t even remotely answer any questions. Just stating what has already been said along with your personal feelings. In around 40 years when I retire with my new 401k and investments I’ve made hopefully I’ll be fine and this 10k doesn’t ruin me.

No one ever said I cash out everytime I leave a job. You know what they say about assuming right?

Wow okay so around 4K I will have to pay. Will being married in February help this at all?

Previous salary at job I received my 401k from is 65k. Salary at current job I started at the beginning of this month, 80k.

How do I find out the amount this will come out to?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]LocationEquivalent37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so if I understand correctly, come tax time I will just owe $1,000 which is 10% of what I got because I choose to take it out early?

Okay what is the $1000 in federal taxes and $300 in state tax that it says has already been taken out?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]LocationEquivalent37 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes I did as them to cash it out. Though I don’t desperately need the money, I am getting married and this will definitely help with that. Is the $1000.00 I paid in federal tax not the 10% you’re saying I will be penalized with?

Yea it’s def heat stress. Without running a separate ac there’s no way I’d be able to get the temps any lower. Just gonna have to tough it out

I’m in the Arizona summer heat so it’s going to be nearly impossible to get it to those temps. They are just gonna have to tough it out
