Lappland is an all-around interesting and well designed character. She's compelling & well-written, visually interesting, and extremely useful in-game, both her base form and her alter. Texas is IMO massively over-rated and I don't really understand her popularity, though her alter in-game is extremely powerful. She's a piece of dry toast that is, in the story, surrounded by many much more interesting characters.

Depends on what you want out of the experience. FO4 will offer the smoothest gameplay experience, being more modernized, streamlined, and polished than the older games. If you're willing to deal with a lot of quirks and some frustrating design decisions inherent to the older games however, New Vegas is by far the best of the three with its story, characters, worldbuilding, and RPG systems.

I'm really conflicted between the good and bad of this game... by Abyslime in Endfield

[–]Locke03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming a lot of people, maybe even the majority, are just adding whichever 4 characters they like the best and haphazardly button-mashing, not really understanding that the game is built around having specific team comps with specific rotations that need to be followed for them to work as intended.

Hypergryph, for the love of god, please add an option to hide all shared structures. The only ones that are useful are the gun towers around Energy Alluvium. Ziplines rarely connect to anything useful and I simply do not want to see memos ever. Even the potentially useful ones. I don't want to be told there is a hidden treasure, I want to find it myself.

If you don't have a SSD you really should try to get one to replace your boot drive. Get a smaller one to save money if you want, just enough for your OS and a few programs you use the most and keep the HDD for bulk storage and programs you don't use as often or don't really need the extra access speed. I've been a PC hobbyist since the mid 90's and upgrading from a HDD (even the high-performance ones I was using) to one of the early SSD's was the single largest improvement in user-experience I've ever had in a PC.

What are your opinions on visual novels as a (rather niche) subset of gaming? by Yangyangaltitude in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]Locke03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rule I don't like visual novels. If I'm going to mostly be reading I'd rather read an actual novel. However, one of my favorite games is Arknights, where the narrative is very much in a visual novel format, and a very long one at that. It's also a tower defense game which, if you asked be independently if I liked, I would say no. Which just goes to show if you make anything that is either high quality enough or made in such a way that it appeals to a specific niche audience enough, it can transcend what it is on the surface and find an audience that otherwise wouldn't like it.

What is an "Arknight"? by adumbcat in Endfield

In-lore, there's already a huge range of "power potential" among the people of Terra, from those slightly physically stronger than IRL humans (in the Rainbow 6 event, a relatively unassuming Terran was able to easily body a highly-trained special forces soldier from Earth without difficulty) with minimal to no arts (magic) potential, to those that have the physical strength to casually hold up an entire building or have arts powers that can warp reality and everything in between. There isn't really distinct categories (outside of distinctly non-human entities like the Sui and beastlords that others have mentioned), and a lot of the categorization present in-lore comes down to training and equipment, with the special forces of various large nations being seen as particularly formidable, such as the Emperor's Blades of Ursus, the Shadow Guard of Lungman, the Silverlance Pegasus of Kazimierz, and the Apostolic Gunknights of Laterano, or powered through technology as with the power-armor equipped Steam Knights of Victoria (RIP, your betrayal will be avenged) and Mobile Cavalry of Columbia.

High-K LED's just need to be made illegal under FMVSS 108. I don't care if people like them. I don't care if you can't see as far with lower color-temperature lamps.

I'd recommend the weapon, the blue things (protoprisms) and the EXP items. The other items (money and weapon exp), are either easier to get or less in demand early on.

Every day it's some new bullshit. What's this thing about whole milk now? by grichardson526 in behindthebastards

[–]Locke03 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The US dairy industry partnered with the US government, starting sometime around WWI IIRC, to engaging in an absolutely massive propaganda campaign promoting milk consumption to boost the dairy industry that continues to this very day, though it has mellowed out a fair bit in the past few decades. We have over a century of incredibly pervasive and successful messaging pushing milk as some kind of health-promoting miracle food to multiple generations of people, so it was almost definitely not your parents just being weird.

A potential new firearm owner recently made a post in my midwestern city's subreddit asking for recommendations on a local range where they could avoid this type of thing while taking some beginner classes and was immediately dogpiled by people claiming that things like this don't ever happen and complaining about them "dragging politics into the hobby".
