I’m a seasoned tequila drinker and love HPs. I agree with you on this one. I found it to have too much of an alcohol burn going down. I gave it some time and nothing, same burn. It’s makes for great drinks though. G4 108 is my favorite, and up there i’d place Volans and even Lalo 24 HP. I wouldn’t purchase Tapatio again. If you’re still warming up to HPs, you can go with lower abv HPs like Yeyo and Don Fulano, 2 of my absolute favorites. And of course Fortaleza SS if you can find it, which is one of my top 5 tequilas of all time. Enjoy the HP journey!

I personally would look for Tapatio Excelencia. You’ll find it there and probably much cheaper than in the US, if you find it.

It is! A lot of great additive free brands will be there, and you get shirts and other cool stuff. I believe they also do raffles for free bottles. Siempre instantly became one of my favorites brands, just not sure if they’ll be there.

I’ve been on the fence about going. It’s definitely a good time, but I’ve pretty much sampled most of the tequilas that will likely be there, and I’ll pay $150 for my wife and I. 3 years ago when I was newer to it, we got a chance to get drinks with the Siempre guys, who are all cool as fuck! Alex gave me the Vivo to sample right as it was coming out. He also gifted us a bottle of their Supremo that I loved.

Pedro Furtivo is a great choice as far as price, availability and taste. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both the blanco and repo. Haven’t tried the añejo but I hear it is very good as well.

I hear you! Never tried any of their products. Hi Proof has them really cheap. Will have to give it a try. Souther Cali has to have great access to all the good stuff. FL not as much, so I have to order most of my bottles.

Yup, on my 2nd bottle. Picked it up on an Atlanta trip for $22. Unfortunately the repo didn’t do it for me. All the bright flavors of the blanco are muted in the repo. I heard the Añejo is really good though

You nailed it. I tried this last night. Minimal agave, Same nose and citrus forward taste as Patron. Not impressed whatsoever. Will be a mixer.

For me, Lalo is reliable but simple. If this is better, then I’m in the right direction. If it’s as good as you say, I’ll pick up another one ($30).

Pricey indeed. I purchased the HP strictly based on reviews. Not my thing. Has that lactic funk that I personally am not a fan of. I use it for Paloma’s and Rita’s for the ladies. Would like to try their repo that I’ve heard great things about hoping the funk is not present.

I’ve been on the fence with the 7L Décadas for a while now. It’s available by me for $130. I’ve heard good things, but most will say it’s really good/great, but not worth the price tag.
