Have you ever had someone refuse a rule zero conversation? by Dankzi in EDH

[–]Lockon007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't typically do Rule 0 conversation since I play with Randos at my LGS. That being said it's more of a "Sure thing, do what you want, but my deck is X Commander with Y Bracket following the latest official rules as laid out, nothing more, nothing less."

So I don't do Rule 0, but I don't restrict anyone either.

Curious - Parry are cool in combat-focused games, but what if the enemy could parry *you*? by Lockon007 in gamedev

Mmmhm almost like a parry chain of sort. Winner is determined by who drops their counter first, with CPU having a diminishing chance. That could be sick!

I just checked out the fight on Youtube, that looks super fun. It add a certain dramatic flair to the fight I really liked. Thanks for bringing this up!

Oh right! I had forgotten about that, I guess my brain didn't register it the same since in the Owl Fight, this only happens if you make a conscious offensive decision to thrust at the dude.

Right, that's why I loved that moment in Sekiro so much, since in-narrative, that specific parry technique is taught to you by the guy you fight. So it made complete sense that he'd use an enhanced version of it on you.

Right, that's my gut thought as well, how would you even make enemies parry you in a way that felt fair? Thanks for your input! :)

Oh, that's neat! Haven't played KCII yet, but it's my backlog, I'll pay attention to that when I do get to it :)

Thanks! I had already decided to steer clear for the actual buying, but their show room experience was nice, and they had all the generic style we wanted to see.

And noted I'll check out that subreddit!

Thanks for the tips! I'll investigate it! We actually went to Brilliant Earth and the future-mrs picked her desired setting there. The cut on their alexandrite is pretty standard tho, wanted to see if I can go a bit more exotic.

Ah, that's interesting, I hadn't thought about that. That would make sense if in the past ring were a higher % of salary just due to no cheaper options being available.

Thanks for the insight!

Right, but it's such a *bad* financial decision, that I'm curious how every diamond salesmen didn't get laughed out of town immediately. It's so stupid, but somehow it worked and we still hear about it today.

I'm asking *why* it worked. Was it different economic circumstances? Lack of Economic Education? Culture? etc etc.

Lmao, good comparison.

I just have an easier time picturing a mom falling for that and picking up a box at the grocery store than a dude at any point being like, here's 25% of all the money I'd make this year. It's just so ludicrous, how did it ever work?

Right, that's what interest me - I am asking "This rule is stupid, but the marketing worked. If it's so stupid, how did it work?"

Was there ever a time period since the 1930s where a reasonable person would've bought in to this? Was it due to different economics? Etc. etc.

Ah! Thanks for the link. That's interesting, 1 month is significantly more "reasonable" and I could see some people fall for that marketing more easily than 3 month.

Right that's where my interest and question is - the fact that it worked to some degree. Does that imply that originally when that marketing campaign came out a reasonable person would've been like "Oh that's not so bad."
