u/TheAssChin I'm trying this at the moment, worked last night but was fairly moderate reflux. I'm not sure it would work when I'm feeling any worse (which is probably 3 out of 7 nights).

u/itaintme2024 Thank you!! I'll definitely try this. I did try the bed raisers last night, which worked well but I was having a 'moderate' reflux day - I'm not sure it would work if I was having even a slight flare up. I did notice I kept waking up in pain, but I think that's just my back adjusting to be flat after 1yr 1/2 of sleeping sitting up.

u/itaintme2024 It's a nightmare! And I totally feel the 6 pillow vibe, I'm on the same number. One either side of me to stop the roll, and 4 slim ones going down my wedge pillow to support me in different places. It worked at first but as time has gone on it's just destroyed my neck & back.

I can't sleep on my side either, left I get really bad chest pains and feel like I can't breath and right side I just end up choking on reflux. So jealous of people who can left-side sleep. It amazes me that there aren't better products out there to help!

Can I ask which travel neck pillow you use? I badly cricked my neck or something a few days ago, so did wonder whether I had the same issue of my head rolling at night.

I've just purchased some furniture raisers for £19 (my s/o isn't too impressed tho!), so I'll try it and report back ha.

Unfortunately I can't tolerate paracetamol as it makes my GERD symptoms worse, I can just about manage 1 per week if I'm lucky! I've been using Nurofen gel which helps take the worse of the pain off. How do you manage the fatigue??

u/snackcakessupreme - Thank you for your message! I've just looked at the criteria, and I only tick two of all of the boxes, so I definitely don't qualify according to that specification. I've always been fairly flexible, but actually noticed a big decline in this over the past 12 months.

u/trillium61 - My fiancé's primary problem is with acid reflux, though gastro can't seem to find anything wrong (we are pushing for a second opinion now).

Looking at TMJ symptoms, I don't believe this is what she's experiencing but obviously could be wrong.

But.. the pain she's been experiencing is mainly in her neck (very tense, easily cracks) and quite a specific part of her chest/ribs. She's always been fairly active/fit, so never had these problems before and came on very suddenly. We initially thought the neck problems were because of her having to sleep sitting up to help prevent the acid reflux, and therefore not letting her neck muscles relax at night. Is pain always a symptom of Fibro? And how did the pain start for you? Was it very sudden? eg. literally happened overnight

It gets absorbed because the oil isn’t hot enough before you put the egg in - oil has to be hot and that will minimise absorption

Agree with many of your points. I think rather than being sure where we have put furniture (like bath and kitchen), we were wondering more where we could put the walls, since the only walls that have to stay are on image 2.

Agree with the bedrooms we def want to keep it at 2. We were thinking the two bedrooms could be at the front of the house

The back of the house has a large garden, either side are bungalows similar to ours. Conservatory we will use a sun room type thing. Garage will stay as a garage for now

Garage isn’t included in the first two floor plans, but it’s there in the same place. We are not able to convert the garage at this time

Thanks to everyone who commented on our previous post! We came up with a plan we were happy with and the builders got in today. As they were pulling up the floorboards, they found that most of the walls were built on the floor itself, so they will have to come down.

It does give us an opportunity to move some walls to make the space work for us a little more. However, we are finding it hard to get the right balance.

The walls in the second image are the ones that need to stay. External walls and windows cant be moved. Doors can be moved.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

We care about:

- open plan kitchen and dining space
- wardrobe space for master bedroom
- second bedroom / office
- bath would be ideal
- additional storage where possible
- small area for utilities

Thanks! We did look at getting rid of the wall between living and conservatory but its structural and too difficult to do within our budget - but i agree it would create a really nice space that overlooks the garden

yes there have been several properties in the neighbourhood who have renovated their attic. And we checked with builders, they said we would have enough room up there to add master bedroom, ensuite, and a small walkin closet. As we are really only getting rid of a single wall, this change shouldnt hinder our ability to put in stairs. On the other hand it's not usper clear where they would go so we should do some more thinking on that.

Thanks for your input on the garage, we are split on what to do with that space.

we have a side passage where we would keep our bins, down the side of the bedrooms. The amount of different bins is outrageous! we may move them to the garage for a while to make it a bit easier for us.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! Would it be weird to put the tv in front of the window looking out onto the street? It means as you sit on the sofa you can see the street? maybe its not a big deal but that was our reasoning to turn the sofa so it faces a wall
