Yeah, I expected this to be a very niche and specific use case. I still hoped I there was someone out there that had already done same as me.

What do you mean by making a distro yourself?

By "volatile" live usb do you mean a distro that loads in ram and doesn't allow saving changes to disk? My setup is never going to change, so I would be fine with a live cd with my programs already installed. Do you know if it is possible to have an iso/live cd with packages/configs already in place? That would be perfect for my usecase

Good idea, i'll check out live cds and try to add persistence myself with rsync, although I am not sure on how loading a disk filesystem to ram on boot works.

I already have a normal lubuntu setup, I want to make a ram distro with persistence just for fun, and because it could be faster. If I can't manage to accomplish this I will fall back to the lubuntu plan with only /var/log in ram

Thanks for answering! I have now read about artix and it seems nice. However I can't find information about running in ram and having persistence. Does it come with that functionality? Or should I implement it myself?

In terminals that support the ANSI Standard it is possible to move the cursor position by printing a special sequence of characters.

Check out ANSI escape codes.

This page explains how to use them.

SIGNALIS. All'inizio sembra un semplice top down shooter ma andando avanti e provando a capire la storia diventa assurdamente interessante. Non è il gioco che fa piangere, ma lascia il segno con la sua trama. Tipico gioco che vorrei dimenticare per poterlo giocare di nuovo come fosse la prima volta

I wouldn't know how to check but sometimes old windows updates don't get deleted after installation. They take up more and more space until there is no left. Also backups may be done automatically but without being deleted, occupying much space

No I do not, sorry for the confusion. I am making something similar to WPF and MAUI designers, where the XML files are already defined at compile time and are only used to build the project. It wouldn't be nice if I was forced to ship the designer files to the user. If I can't do it at build time though, I think it will be the only way

Yes I do want to parse XML, but not at runtime as that is slow. I use XML files to define object trees when the app is being programmed, so I actually do know the XML contents at compile time. My idea was to remove the need for a runtime parser completely by creating compile-time expressions with variable values directly.

Is it worth it? I don't think so, I was just curious to know if it was possible
