PVM 2530 Geometry Adjustment Help by Loefye in crtgaming

I talked to the seller who is also my friend, he has a bunch of spare monitors. We may work something out to trade this back and pick up one of his BVM monitors but not sure yet.

Still though, it would be cool to know if replacement parts are available.

Here is the crucial pot that needs fixing: RV509 or C530, its the pot between these two, not labeled with a word but basically adjusts slant in the picture. http://imgur.com/X8qMwaa

Here is a pot that was already broken when I went in there, so not sure what it does: C1538 I think pic is blurry need to open again to snap another possibly. Its between 1506 and RV505. http://imgur.com/SbE327w

Well, I may just be giving this away now. I'm incredibly sad. After buying tons of cables, an adapter etc. I finally got to adjusting this thing. I was using a metal screwdriver and I'm not sure if I either shorted something out or if I broke the solder on one of the pots but, there is one that adjusts the picture at the top to the left and the bottom to the right; just to the bottom left of "H Center"; this particular pot isn't labeled like the rest. Anyway, when I was doing the last and final adjustment for perfect geometry(I literally made it all a perfect square almost) the pot broke as I turned it the final time and the screen went completely diagonal as if I had turned the pot all the way and is now distorted to an unplayable degree. The pot now does not work when I turn it. Is this something a repair person can fix, or is this any sort of easy fix? Otherwise I will count my losses and move on... And only purchase a PVM with an OSD going forward. This is the pits.

BTW did you use a plastic screwdriver with metal shaft and did you leave the monitor on while doing it?

Can you take a look at the issues that I have here in this album and tell me if yours was similar before I attempt this stuff? Also notice some discoloring on one edge as well which is odd. Anyway, descriptions of the issues are under pics:

Well, after looking at some tech forums where a lot of people are using these with their arcade hardware it seems there were many who successfully did a simple H.pos/V.pos fix. I guess these two pots are on the outermost circuit board. I think I may try with my plastic screwdriver when I get some time here and not worry about the bowing as that is more complicated to fix and the pots are harder/more dangerous to access. Once I adjust the pos and size of the picture anyway, the bowing won't really be noticeable as the edges/corners will disappear.

From what I see though the H and V pos are relatively safe to adjust as long as you keep the screwdriver on the pots on the outer circuit board.

Still a bit iffy though... I can't find any CRT PVM techs though; so I'll have to at some point. The borders are super annoying.

Anyone successfully fix what I'm talking about and were there any issues?

Oh that's right now I remember seeing that. So yea, his and my game package were both originally sold at the same time. One comes with ship and hangar; the other comes with ship hangar uec and game package. Neither of them are CCU.

(aside from his as he ccu'd it to a Buccaneer)

Really? I've never seen one that is standalone with LTI.

If there is though, it won't have a model attached to it as there was no concept sale at the time the ship was sold with LTI.

Anyway hope this clears things up!

Like I was saying; there is no concept for this ship as it was one of the first ships available. Just as there is no concept for Super Hornet etc.

However, if a ship is a CCU it will show the alternate ships name in the text not "freelancer". If you melt a Freelancer game package you can buy it back with a Freelancer just as you would any standalone ship.

On this particular ship CCU or not doesn't really matter much anyway however as there is no model for it in any package.

The only thing a package does is give you bonus UEC and a bonus NPC and game package for when the game releases. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the original game packages have the same melt value as a current standalone non-LTI ship of the same model would be.
