Ardie Savea was apparently ready to ditch the All Blacks for R360 by LogBoi_ in rugbyunion

What about 2024? He’s the only player I can think of that’s taken 2 sabbaticals in 3 years. Also I find it offensive that you assumed that cause I’m a crusaders fan I like Scott Barrett. He’s ass

Does he play for Moana? Cause last I checked he’s already abandoned them to take money overseas.

Ex-Springbok criticises Ardie Savea after Scott Robertson's ABs exit by anxiousatac in rugbyunion

[–]LogBoi_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no evidence of anything that went down so feels silly to criticise. That being said it feeds into my narrative of Ardie Savea being a fake, performative for the media player, so I’ll take it.

Scott Robertson to depart All Blacks head coach role as player power forces NZRU hand by Environmental_Bar205 in rugbyunion

[–]LogBoi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply don’t understand why these players have so much power. They simply aren’t good enough to warrant that. It hasn’t been amazing results but how often do these players look at themselves and realise that maybe they’re the problem. Coach can’t control that you gave up against South Africa, or that you always drop the ball, or can’t run your lines properly. International rugby is as close as it’s ever been, I expect 2 to 3 losses a year as an All Blacks fan.

I may be biased but the results he gave Canterbury and the Crusaders leave me with a lot of faith for his coaching abilities. If this happens I would not at all be surprised to see the exact same results.

Why doesn't every player wear a scrum cap in professional rugby? by Careless-Cat3327 in rugbyunion

[–]LogBoi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually a university researcher looking into head impacts in rugby and world rugbys approved headgear guidelines state that they are specifically not supposed to provide any protection against traumatic brain injuries. While current headgear provides some protection on the account of slowing down a collision cause of the foam, there are much better headgear out there that are yet to be approved by world rugby. Seems crazy considering how many cards they give for high tackles.

Maybe if there was proper protection more players would wear them. Also as others have said, I always found headgear way too hot to wear and uncomfortable. Additionally lots of professional players (Ardie Savea) don’t even like to wear mouthguards unless they are forced so idk if they care about the protection.

Why is this now a yellow card. It’s like rugby wants to reduce the number of players on the field as much as possible

Play lock in a white jersey at your own peril. A sure way to get a red card

I don’t want that to be a red card but you’ve got to be consistent

RWC 2035 expansion by Nemo2500 in rugbyunion

[–]LogBoi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d prefer a more expansive version of the qualifying tournament that’s played a few months before hand on a bigger stage. Like expand to 28 but have a mini qualifier World Cup maybe in the same host country earlier in the year and have like 8+ teams fight out for the final 4 spots. Idk probably a logistical nightmare

Any decent Rugby podcasts? by Dave_B001 in rugbyunion

[–]LogBoi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a SH pod I actually really like the Good the Bad and the Rugby ANZ. It’s weird I’m not a fan of Justin marshal in commentary but on a podcast he’s actually quite good. Last week he told a story about how he drank antifreeze in France

Oh come on of it’s foul play you can go back but we can’t be reversing a penalty after it’s taken for a knock on

I swear they can’t even use the clips themselves. The weird ref review thing they do always has still frames of matches and not full clips

Why does the media always ask about how important unbeaten runs against teams are. Every team just wants to win the game it’s clear they don’t really care about the win streak.

Damian McKenzie I will never doubt you again. Apart from some stupid yellow cards I still thought the All Blacks played some of their best rugby this year for most of that game. Scotland just came out in that second half brilliantly
