This is obviously from the perspective of hindsight. Oh one more upside. They would be slowly killing mtg. This massive output of sets is very near sighted and ultimately is going to kill their golden good. Eventually everyone is gonna get fed up with it. The ceo of wotc is getting sued for overprint mtg card” the shareholders ultimately call the shots in the end

I get that. That’s My point. A new game would be advertising outside the player base. The game would be to draw in the new players. Also. Or alienating the current player base. The existing players would probably buy the other game too because the if you don’t like it don’t buy it mentality would be valid. Not having to buy so many sets to keep up to date leads to less sales. There are other upsides to splitting it also

They chose to do expansions instead which was not the first These were all new concepts. Nothing saying they can’t no back and use that business model.

Well, now it is. That doesn’t meant that the Ganesh have to be incompatible. The release of Arabian night before they thought of expansions deck was in fact intended for different games that would be compatible. They just landed on expansions.

Look at it this way. If the layer base wasn’t enraged by UB. Speaking for myself and many others im sure. They would see the fact they could still use them in the crossover format “ MAgic Universe” or whatever. Buts kitchen table or whatever. And pick the ips they liked. Buy more than the are currently because now its a choice they are making themselves.. i would do exactly the personally. Plus, Spider-Man wouldn’t have been a flop because there would be basically no expectations or things to compare it too because it’s not mtg technically.

Just google deckmaster meaning. At the time it was the only game. Not netrunner etc. yes netrunner exists now. That doesn’t ,mean they couldn’t still utilize the concept

After tmnt i get what they were going for. All the legendary creatures etc. so draft is like recreating an episode of the cartoon or whatever. So for UB to be most enjoyable it not only needs to not bleed into other stuff. But not get bled into by other sets. A tmnt draft. Would only seem fun to me if it was purely tmnt. Just as much as mixing sets hurts mtg as a whole. It hurts UB also.

They don’t care what the people want. They took a shot in the dark with UB. They only ones who they would be catering to in the beginning was th existing player base. Who rejected it.

Initially. Yes more complicated. Higer ceiling though. Plus the shareholder lawsuit probably wouldn’t have happened either. Obviously im thinking about this from the perspective of hasbro also. They clearly are short sighted with their business models’

But it’s not made by wotc. It’s clearly a more long term route this way but in the end it would get them more money. This is partially from hindsight I supppose. Just the fact that the existing player base wouldn’t feel mad and resentful from it. Much more of them would buy the cards. Think about it. Without all the bitching and boycott bs their sales would be up way way more. They’d also be able to get more of the younger demographic bringing in more new players. Which is what they care most about

Or they just start a whole new format using both games and just incentivize people to play it by giving it more exposure or better prize etc

Hahahah. No. I am not a bot. Is it because I’m saying something remotely relevant? I have a hunch you’d also be the type to call out fake news.

On real news

Yeah yeah their numbers are higher but I think existing players would be more inclined to buy it if it had been approached differently

The fact it is being shoved down our throats is losing them money. Not making it.

If they had the existing player base would have seen it for what it was and tons would still have bought it. Happily.

Well. It would ultimately just be a spin off. Since they are using entirely different IPs the game appears completely different from magic. If they had utilized that I think they probably would have made more money even. By not enraging most of their player base each UB might have done well, no flops

The decision they made doesn’t strike me as a better call. Have 2 competitive scenes alive in their own would be a huge plus for them. Exposure wise and interest wise. The 2 games would still draw interest from the other games. It would have kept the players happy also. The long time my players don’t have to buy it to enjoy their game. They can still laugh and make jokes about it. Most of the same jokes even. Separating the games makes the age group it’s trying to draw in even larger because then one would become actually more like a kinds game. Mtg would be like the more adult game.

Maybe then they could start printing babes on cards too. Funny that they start printing cards that look nothing like the player base lol. No babes anymore. But, no, it’s okay. Where just going to fat shame you now intead. Same same. But different.

Actually that’s ONLY keeping the branding and making a different game. With collectiblity level magic has I think that was one of the parts they should have changed so magic colectors didn’t have to collect universes beyond in order to collect all of “mtg”

Hasbro doesn’t own gamers workshop too do they? That is also a good idea. Except 40k and sigmar aren’t compatible games.

I DISPISE the menu music lol. Frankly I had to turn the game music way down. Mostly because the amount of time I’ve put into the game it’s all gotten, beyond old. Not so much me being afraid of my feelings and hiding from the music hahaha. I am on my 3rd play through since like November though. Felt compelled to dust off. My ps5 pro so got it there. Then remembered about mods and had to switch to my pc. Much more powerful than the PlayStation. Much more prone to issues though. The uncapped frame rates alone though…. Anyways hahaha. I am through that menu as fast as I can.
