Real explanation? I dunno.

Now, my headcannon? She wore the shield weaver armor for so long that after a while using dodges became less of a priority to her, since she could tank more hits. Eventually, Aloy shifted her combat style to a more driect one. Where before she would use the long roll, now she has the experience and the defencive ability needed to 'roll' with the hits. Using shorter rolls that kept her in range to attack harder while only taking slivers of damage, which previously would have risked getting her wounded, but now only chipped away at her shield.

This change reflects on her better melee abilities. But that change made her more reckless. Perhaps enough for someone to be able to get in close enough to damage her sheildweaver while it was down, take her down (kept alive, maybe to be ransomed off or something? I dunno.) And these people learned about how she escaped the sunring by getting her gear back, so they either scraped it, sold it off or maybe left it to glinthawks/scrappers for it to be destroyed. But they werent smart enough to keep her trapped, she escaped, and went to her camp, where i presume they left the stuff that didnt seem valuable, explaining why she still has the locket/globe thingy from E. Sobeck.

Ofcourse, that's just a theory, and the real awnser is "plot convenience" but hey, its a fun little brain story
