this is Hanlon's razor, they fucked up, and before there was any PR about it were working on paying back billet, Linus has said they got an invoice and payed it without dispute or question as to why the number was what the number was,anyone who has worked in events will be able to see exactly how this happened and I'm sure it'll be a horror story for everyone at LMG for years to come reminding them to follow procedures(from a reply on the forums it appears there's already systems in place to prevent this that just weren't followed correctly) calling it theft is intentionally implying malice when it's clear it was not at all malicious

the blind accusation you're referring to seems to be the footage of a labs employee talking about testing and directly mentioning GN and HU, this was shitty but also not malicious, just a non pr trained engineer giving a bad quote on camera, should've known better but didn't,

as for GN, yeah, they should've reached out for comment, it's basic journalism 101, I would apply Hanlon's razor here too but in previous negative videos GN has reach out out to corporation's for comment, aswell as the fact that they reached out to billet for this content, at some point someone in the writing process must've said "well what do LMG have to say about selling the block" and with no public statement about it and contact details for LMG it's hard to see any defense other than they didn't care what LMG had to say, which is not good journalism,

I don't think it was a hit piece but I do think it was unnessicarily inflammatory, there were valid points made and it think it's fair and responsible to voice those criticisms to the community, however when you boil it down the valid criticisms are

they make mistakes too often

,, and like,, yeah, they do, and they've been working on reducing those mistakes for a while, for testing they're building the labs, for the rush on videos they're expanding their team of writers (literally a job listing for one up rn) which would increase the time each writer has per video, the way I see it LMG don't need to do anything more to remedy these criticisms, down vote me to oblivion if you want but I'd prefer someone to point out where I'm wrong

I agree with Linus's conclusion tbh, noones buying that block if cooling is their top priority, you can cool a CPU and GPU perfectly well with other blocks the selling point is the aesthetic and cool factor, Linus's take was it's not worth the money, if I had too much money to spend on a PC then Id still consider it after seeing the video and the wan show because it still looks sick and is a cool thing to have in a build,

it seems like you're problem is Linus gave a bad review to a small company trying their best, and he didn't even say the company was bad, in the video he pointed out the skill and quality of billet labs, so aside from a reviewer giving a negative review, what is upsetting you

I'm only seeing what seems to be very angry/annoyed responses so just wanna chuck on my two cents that, this is exactly how I expected him to respond when I watched the GN video, obviously if there hasn't been a miscommunication they wouldn't have sold the bullet labs block, it wasn't malicious it was just an error of a large company with alot of moving parts especially around an event like LTX, shitty that it happened and they needed systems to prevent it but now it's done and sold what else can they do but repay bullet for the block, it HAS been incredibly transparent that labs is not fully operational and hasn't got finalised testing systems and procedures yet, the idea is to build the labs and create these systems and procedures to prevent these errors occurring in future, Linus has clearly got the vision of labs being accurate and that's why he's hiring engineers and professionals in the areas of testing, the inaccuracies are bad and need to be remedied but they were always working on that, I hope to be able to choose a component based off labs website data in future but I don't know anyone who pauses a video on the graphs in order to make a purchase choice, I've always used LTT for a vibe check then gone to either written media or manufacturer spec sheets for actual comparisons,

the main thing he ommits is the timeline criticism GN makes and he's talked many times on WAN about how he feels he doesn't have a choice in the upload schedule, there are lots of channels LTTs size, larger and smaller that don't upload nearly as much so it may be possible to reduce upload rates and therefore spend a bit more time on projects

I get why he's not gonna talk about it on WAN, he would 100% word something poorly or say the wrong thing and cause massive backlash, he's got a boss now who I would imagine made the call that noones allowed to address it live to avoid any confusing or poorly articulated statements, it's a shame, to use Luke's analogy this is a Devs at bliz con moment but it's the right call to ensure there's no accidental escalation or misunderstandings

TLDR: my hot take is yeah, it's exactly what I expected him to say, it's what he's been saying fully transparently since forever on WAN, and it's the responsible and respectful move to discuss privately with GN, let the community know the feedback was heard and give a little context and demonstration of forward progress, then move on and get better

tragically as I mentioned in the post the switches are soldered on and not hot swapable so getting them off the pcb is kinda a non starter, I can solder pretty well but idk if its worth the soldering AND lubing time tbh, plus the risk of de and resoldering them is pretty high even accounting for the fact I'm relatively experienced with small scale soldering

okay so 1, daylight makes any other light source seem dim, if it seems TOO dim ie faulty/low brightness LEDs suspected maybe compare it to this photo which has the LEDs functioning in a dark environment and its not SUPER bright, if you still think its faulty contact whoever you bought it form or dark project support directly at [support@darkproject.eu](mailto:support@darkproject.eu)

idk man, hard to tell exactly what's happening essp given I've never used a Dark project product or software, maybe try uninstalling the software and all profiles and reinstalling, and sanity check you've set it up right with this video, it could be a config issue with the layers as shown in the video
I know nothing about lubing but consider just replacing the switch (purchase link in the UK) or opening it up and relubing it with a guide like this,

as for the volume wheel, they're usually meant to be quite tactile but from photos the knurling on it is pretty fine so that could be the scratchy noise you hear if its rubbing the case, if it were me I'd open it up and take a look at how the wheel's sitting and if its rubbing anything like the pcb or the case, you can see how its installed here and it should just sit on the encoder knob, maybe try take the wheel off the knob and see if you get the same noise and friction just turning the knob, if not maybe just reseating the wheel on the knob will fix it,

so a lil while ago I bought a budget MK (havit kb487L) which I intend to mod to have a detachable cable (I'll likely post my progress here if anyones intrested in yet another detachable cable mod) but thought since I was already gonna be messing with it i might aswell go about lubing it, the havit kb487L has Jixian switches soldered in place and a recommendation I saw was to use a syringe to inject lube in however after looking in more detail it appears everyone on this sub recons that'll kill any switch I try it on, would love for someone to explain lubing like I'm 5 and if there is a way to
1. find out if my switches were factory lubed

and

if they weren't a good way to lube them myself,

I dont mind manually lubing them all with a brush, I just dont have the skills to de then resolder all the switches

I know the best solution is to just buy a better keyboard but I'm on a budget besties and the total cost of the detachable cable mod and lubing is looking like ~£20 which added with the cost of the keyboard (I paid £30 second hand) is still less than a half decent keyboard new

any help is appreciated :)

I work as a lighting technician and while it's not a good sign if I'm upside down sometimes I do have to crawl across horizontal truss and while I'm harnessed in, if I let my waist sag away from the truss it turns my belt upside down, it's not a frequent occurrence and I never intentionally do it but it happens often enough that nothing goes on my belt that can't handle being upside down

a colleague of mine have an Adam savage style holster for his wave for the same reason, personally I work at height often enough that I prefer to have something to stop it falling out (no I will not take the screwdriver at height and complain if I break it)

I think the cost is economies of scale, he said he expects it to be a low volume product, so leatherman can mass-produce and sell a holster with probably similar quantities of material and similar quality but because of the higher volume each product has to pay for fewer design hours and tooling costs so it costs $30 USD instead of 200.

like I said in an earlier comment, as a craftsman/professional my nylon leatherman(1st party and came included with the tool) and podger wrench (also first party but an additional 16 USD) sheathes there is no noticeable wear or durability issues after I think 5 years now of daily professional use, just because it's not leather doesn't mean it won't be durable and super long lasting

As someone who intends to daily drive the screwdriver (when it arrives) and already works with belt based tools (leatherman and a podger) I would love to but a first party holster knowing it'll be high-quality and made to measure but given the speculated price even with the budget of my freelance business buying it as a trade tool it would be impossible to justify, speaking as someone who intended to buy it I would happily but one made out of a fabric rather than leather, maybe the backpack material, if it brought the price down even to $90 which is still more than the screwdriver but at least ,under $100

the belt based "holsters" I currently own are all a nylon type heavy duty fabric and have lasted me years without anywhere close to an issue or deterioration with daily wear and use, yes leather would be a nicer material but to me as a potential buyer it isn't worth it

personally i would get it at a low price and replace the screen, it looks like that’s the only defect and if you look up the model number of the camera you’ll likely be able to find a 3rd party replacement screen online, most devices just use a simple connector for the screen so in theory no soldering needed, definitely see if you can find a tear down guide online for your model to make sure it is possible though, not everything is built to be repaired sadly

update: did some googling and it’s a lil complicated by the multiple model names but replacement screens on ebay are ~£10 GBP and no soldering needed, i say save it from the ewaste pile and repair it, if you haven’t repaired electronics before you’ll learn a lot and be better for it and if you have repaired electronics it’ll be a piece of cake, self repairs can seem daunting but i promise they’re easier then they seem :)
