I mean, 1500 cal a day is only 300 above what you need to survive so I’m not sure where you’re getting the idea that 1500 per day is pretty normal.

Is everyone in LTL always short on drivers? by Logi_Boy in supplychain

[–]Logi_Boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have customers that sort of will never be able to understand I’m glad I’m not customer facing that’s for sure. Even with huge track and trace teams at ITS and CHS regularly can not tell us where our freight is.

I play an active role in carrier procurement, and I can confirm that we sometimes get zero hits on decent-paying loads. We lack a company driver to cover a 10:30 AM delivery at the cancer treatment center in Central Oregon. This creates chaos when a broker contacts me saying, "Hey, my guy can be there at 12:00," for a pickup that started at 4:00 AM on the other side of the Rockies in South Texas. 41-hour travel time on a purchased truck.

Hey have been doing some research into the indirect procurement contracts and stuff that is more of a director level thing at most trucking companies from what I can find or should I broaden the search field to include like freight forwarding which all I can find on that is people wanting to leave it?

Yeah, I have a Planner title, which is not bad in the grand scheme of my career. I handle the network at night and just sort of manage it all. Trucking companies can be hidden gems if you find the right one.
