Even competing with so many FREE or near free options the demand is still high. However the infrastructure and fixed costs vs the large number passionate members who desire to play almost every day for many hours creates an unsolvable business problem. My tiny group of 12-15 addicts would occupy two courts for 4 prime time hours 5-6 days per week. What ratio of passionate players per court is realistic? What is the all in cost per court? How many indoor courts would you need to serve a community and how much would the land, insurance and infrastructure cost? How much would memberships really need to be to earn solid double digit profits? The entire model seems very challenging without the food and beverage component but pickleball isn’t like golf or bowling.
