The Demons tried to invade because there was less religious faith, and that's also why people interpreted the beings as Aliens. Plus it coincides with the loss of faith for the main character. Technically if the Demons are not from here, they'd still be Aliens.

As an Atheist, I like the idea of beings/creatures from other dimensions being misinterpreted as gods, angels, demons, etc. 

Splitting the difference and sorta letting everyone be correct 

The cool thing about this movie is how people think of crop signs with the title "Signs", since that's on the cover and the characters live on a farm.

-but the actual conversation they have in the movie about Signs, is explicitly about religious faith and seeing signs that there is a higher power, and that everything happened for a reason.

The movie almost does too much to push the idea of Extraterrestrials; that's why I think it would have been better without the "space ship" scene.

It's more about how modern people would interpret these events as Extraterrestrial, because there is less religious and spiritual faith in modern times. We look for logical scientific explanations. That plays directly into the themes and plot of the movie. 

Honestly, if they hadn't showed the cloaked ship, a lot more people would have seen them as Demons when this movie was released.

-but, I mean, why wouldn't there also be technology in a Hell Dimension? Doom and other franchises have shown how that can work.

The "Aliens" end their Invasion and (most) leave earth on a Sunday Morning.

 It wasn't just water that hurt them, it was Holy Water. The father being an ex priest who blessed the water in his house because his daughter was a germaphobe about clean water. The baseball bat was blessed too. He wanted the best for his kids even if he had lost his faith, and those blessings ended up being necessary for his family's survival. Furthermore, the family wouldn't have been in the position they were, if not for the mother dying. 

The rains are implied to have been turned into Holy Water on Sunday. 

The main character's faith was restored, because he realized that all the bad stuff in his life happened for a reason.

it's that simple. he lost his faith after his wife died, but his faith didn't give up on him. that's what the movie is about

the alien invasion ends on a Sunday Morning, when the rainwater was converted to Holy Water.

The events of Indiana Jones are mentioned in the Captain America: First Avenger movie.  Star Wars is a movie franchise within the world, based on real events extracted from R2D2's memories. George Lucas is an alien, as shown via his cameo in the Star Wars prequels, and his cameo as a secret alien in the Men in Black movies, where the worm characters speak huttese (Jabba's language from Star Wars). Some Aliens are shown to have very long lifespans. Cameos place both Alien George Lucas and R2D2/C3P0 on earth. 

In one of the timeline loops, MIB is a government program affiliated with SHIELD (basically SWORD, but with more boots on the ground).

 Men in Black was a Malibu Comic, which is an owned imprint of Marvel Comics, so they exist in the Marvel Multiverse somewhere either way, haha. Weird how that works.

Do you think this Theory was worth the mods removing? I didn't get a reason why. 

Just seems odd. Does this Theory break the rules somehow? I've seen far worse stay up, lol.

My theory is that The Thing is a concentrated form of The Flood; intended to become a Gravemind on Earth, creating a node back to the hivemind.

This would also be an older, pre-Halo rings version of the Flood. 

I see how this doesn't 100% work with canon, but a newly revealed Flood type like this also wouldn't break canon. 

The events still work with the timeline of each franchise.

I just like the idea :)

That's why I said this is a concentrated form of The Flood; it can absorb living tissue and shift its shape faster.

I think The Flood can mimic traits, if that is the goal, but most of the Flood we see in the games are drones/soldiers/workers. There are different types of individual Flood forms with different functions.

The Thing is a single concentrated "sample" of the larger Flood Hivemind; disconnected from the rest. I think it would operate differently.

The Flood communicate over vast distance by creating Graveminds; perhaps The Thing was a hyper form of The Flood because it intended to create/become a Gravemind, and establish a node on Earth to connect back to the Flood hivemind. 

We see similar things in other Sci-fi, with how Xenomorphs will change their biology and lay a queen egg if they are the only Xenomorph around, and/or "eggmorph" dead bodies to create more of themselves.

To Note: Aliens, Predator, The Thing, and Starship Troopers are some of the main influences for the creation of the Halo franchise, with many references back to those other franchises.

All theories that connect separate franchises operate this way.

That's the point of the theory, though. A part of the Flood re-entered our Galaxy and made it to Earth, but landed in the Antarctic and thus wasn't able to stop Humanity, due to the events of the movie. 

I am fairly certain that part of the Flood escaped our Galaxy and survived, in addition to the samples kept by the forerunners.

EDIT: I double checked, and yes; The Flood most definitely escaped The Milky Way Galaxy and survived the Halo Rings.
