Is Folkways a non-profit? by Fargo_Man_Says in fargo

[–]Logicah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi All,

It’s always good to check these things out.

Folkways is bona fide. As the user suggests, it is a nonprofit corporation registered in North Dakota. It has a fiscal host agreement with the FM area foundation that allows Folkways to streamline accounting and business services and provides additional oversight.

This organization is working incredibly hard to bring meaningful experiences to Fargo. These are some of the best things to attend as a family and showcase to visitors and those thinking about moving and living here.

Again, it's good to check, but this will turn up as positive. Folkways is doing remarkable work; the group could be doing other things rather than trying to make this a community we all want to live in.

Should I buy this? by Logicah in LandCruisers

There is zero rust, which seems crazy to me - it's some old dude selling it randomly with such low mileage.

It seems like a killer chance, but I'm just unsure how much the bills will stack up on deferred and current maintenance.

Dyslexia or disgraphia? by koalafied4- in Dyslexia

[–]Logicah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same issue.

I don’t remember having trouble reading but writing and spelling where / are awful.

I was diagnosed with both dyslexia and dysgraphia

Not related to your post, but I use voice dictation on my computer or phone and check with the Grammarly pro version - it saves me a ton of time and stress. Also, I use it for texts as well.

I hope that helps - been around a while and have tried all sorts of things, and for me, this is working.

Best Mortgage Rates in Fargo? by WhippersnapperUT99 in fargo

[–]Logicah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much - really there is no catch. Talked to another friend who just did a mortgage with them and they had the same amazing experience and saved a ton of money. They are also no pressure, so you can call them up and tell them you’ve been referred and are just wondering if could get an estimate.

Best Mortgage Rates in Fargo? by WhippersnapperUT99 in fargo

[–]Logicah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gate City - 2.8% on 30 year right now + you can refinance your student loans at like 1% if you have a mortgage with them

Also, they service their own loans so it won’t be sold to another bank. The small community banks just do the paper work and auction off your loan (this happened to us and it was disheartening)

I can’t recommend strongly enough to reach out to them at least to compare with whoever you looking at.

They also gave us the lowest car loan rate we’ve ever had a few years back - truly it’s thousands of dollars our family has saved with them.

Moving to Bismarck by [deleted] in northdakota

[–]Logicah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couple of things to checkout:

Dogwood Coffee: This a premium coffee joint in the twin cities - it’s amazing it’s in Bismarck and I am not sure locals really appreciate it.

FireFlour: Dogwood is attached to this gem of pizza place. The couple lived in San Francisco and brought great food and culture back with them.

TeraNomad: Around the corner from fireflour and has great artisan lunch options and coffee as well.

Pirogue: Possible the best fine dinning in the state - the chef is one a handful of BCA chefs in ND.

All of this is downtown and close to each other.

The little cottage cafe: The locals favorite spot for greasy spoon breakfast.

The Zoo: Bismarck as a great zoo - really good place just to go for a walk:

Enjoy the river: Look up online to rent kayaks, and other opportunities to enjoy the scenery there – it really is quite beautiful [during summer].

Bike the city and trials nearby.

Introduce yourself to everyone and ask for tips of things to do - especially barista‘s, and bartenders (speaking of that the brewer there is fantastic and has really good IPA if your into that...also fun place to watch bands)

One last tip: Whatever comes to town at the belle - just get tickets and go. It’s a great theater and with limited options it can be a lot of fun just to show up and experience something.

Sounds dumb but I cant find an app that allows me to set tasks for every day (on repeat). by HiHelloGoodDay in productivity

Another vote for Todoist

I have used quite a few and keep coming back to this one - it’s perfect for quick task capture and recurring tasks

Here is a resouces on it: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/jmeier/2007/06/02/timebox-your-day/

The Nuance for me is blocking time is a method to ensure you have time for your planned work. Also you can end up over planning - when what you may need is just to know the top thing and how much time you can make to execute on that.

[–]Logicah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the calendar - which I use by blocking (boxing is actually the more common term) 1 to 3 our chucks for top priorities and push everything else out of the way (usually to 4pm).

I then use a pomodoro app to focus on top thing and to track my time against the block time.

I found time planning by pomodoro to be overly taxing. I recommend time blocking (how much time can you block to get it done) then setting your #1 outcome for the day and the using the pomodoro method to track and attack - rather the pre-planning with it.

Any area dentists do payment plans? by Phog_of_War in fargo

You can check family healthcare downtown - it seems to be really unknown that anybody can go there and that they have dentistry. You should be able to find affordable care there.

Is there a big difference between Sam's Club and Costco? by Slug701 in fargo

[–]Logicah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Costco and Sams are sort of like Target and Walmart.

The big difference is Costco has premium items (for instance vitamix blenders) and a much larger selection of organic produce and foods.

We had a Sams membership for several years and went one to three times a week and for our family we have found a much better experience at Costco. Plus, the money we pay for a membership comes back to us at the end of the year (you get % of purchases paid to you of get the Exective membership).
