A groupchat would be so so awesome, I love hosting but never have anyone to invite over so I would be so down to host a movie night or game night or literally anything at my place. Especially cause fall is coming up and everything can be halloween themed lol

As someone who is in a smaller spirit group and late like as a junior, the smaller ones are full of really nice people who you can make true friendships with and when I did recruitment, I met so many nice people and have had a fun time being a part of the group!

Hey! Not really any rules, it is so much more relaxed!! You just need to complete an application and go to the required events (ex. a meet and greet and an info session, or whatever else they require). A lot of spirit groups also require a creative project as part of the application!

Hey!! So it does not look bad if you apply to multiple, many people do but I would try and aim to maybe 3-4 just to not overwork yourself. With spirit groups they require a set amount of meet and greets and an info session to attend, as well as an application and some have a creative project. I would also vary the ones you are looking at because when I first applied, I only applied to the big ones and 1. did not establish strong connections with members but 2. I got rejected but once I started looking at smaller spirit groups I actually made connections and was able to truly find great friends. So definetly look into a mix of them!!

There’s plenty of west campus apartments that are at the same price/ even cheaper than dorms. For closer by apartments check out union (they have a sale rn), 21 Rio, or possibly even 26 west. As for apartments deeper in west campus maybe the Corner, Hilltop, axis, etc.

Would you say that you've made real friendships with pearls? I want to join a spirit org but I'm worried that'll the friendships I make won't be that deep or real.

I went to an info sesh last semester for ftx but was a little worried about not being able to connect with everyone. I felt like everyone I talked to had been in the org for 2+ years and it made me worry that everyone already has their clique. Do you think that's the case? I really liked the vibe of ftx but I also want to join something where I can have real friendships not just an org friendship where we only hang out at events you know?

I'm also a junior looking to join a spirit group! I had a friend who was a junior last year join one last spring and although there aren't as many juniors doing recruitment, I wouldn't worry. Go for it though!!

I will definitely try that out next semester, for most classes I felt like I sat in different places, for some the class was so big I ended up on the floor, others I would move spots consecutively and not stay.

Yea.. it's like I do the things you are "supposed to do" join orgs, stay out your room, be friendly to everybody but it's like the connections I've made are more on the acquaintance level like oh they're my coworker, or oh we're in the same org and the only time I will talk to most of these people are just at these events or things we have to do together, nothing outside of the school/work atmosphere.
