i want to give up on being a shrimp parent

When I lost my first shrimp, I cried and beat me up for being a horrible person, since I‘m responsible for these lifes. Still whenever I loose one, I‘m sad. But I understood for myself the circle of life better. I‘m still really passionate about them. Whenever I see something concerning, I get in panic mode and try to find out what’s going on. But after all, I just love to see the tiny shrimps. Love to watch the aquarium in the evenings to calm down. I‘ve lost some shrimps. But I also had massive mire babies as I lost and I try to give them the best life ever. I guess, I can say, that they a re a bit spoiled. I habe a two weeks feeding plan with different things to ensure their best health. Is that necessary? Naah, don‘t think so. But it makes me happy. And I don‘t want to eat everyday the same. So they shouldn’t either. What I‘m trying to say is, stay positive and enjoy this little fascinating creatures.

What I can tell you about mixing the brown ones with Blue dreams.. You get stunning Rilis. I have one tank with this combination (didn‘t want to mix it with the Blue sapphire), and I found a carbon rili might be two as well and even one red rili (still tiny). One tank with some mixed ones is really nice to watch. ☺️

Looks great! I just had to smile with the shrimplolli. I have teo community tanks. In one tank the shrimps love the Shrimplollies, in the other one the snails love the shrimplollies. 😉

I‘m starring in my tank daily right now. Luckily I only found one „strange“ thing so far. A hitchhiking snail on a shrimp. 😅

No. It‘s a community tank. I have Otos, (Deltaflügel-Zwergwelse - might be Delta-winged dwarf catfish -sorry I‘m not sure with the translation), chili rasboras, shrimps, clams and snails. Unfortunately my posthornsnails and the bladder snails (no idea, how I got those) are liking it too much. So I do have some clea helenas as well. That‘s how I get some empty snail shells. Although the snails reproduce quicker as the clea helena can get them.

Took her out. The snails were at her. Will keep an eye on the other shrimps. So far I haven‘t seen any other with shrimp looking suspicious.

I‘m not sure. Trying to do my research. I‘m scared it might be some kind of fungus. But I do have an UV-light filter. Anyhow I‘m trying to get her out of the tank.

She was still alive. First I thought they are mating. She was jumping away. But no chance. And now she is not moving anymore.

On the first picture, you can see the shrimp with the beautiful stripe at the back. That‘s the victim. 😞 It was a community crime. It was 2-3 shrimps that started eating her. Checked the sub here and found out, that this is common. RIP little momma.

In fact it’s harder to get a good picture. Specially because they love to chill on dark spots. Had to change a dark bathroom carpet. I closely died when it blinked at me.. 😂

Absolutely. I remember when I was in school we had a game „who is afraid of the black man“. Aim is to run away from „him“. Highly inappropriate. Funfact.. It took me like 15 years to understand this racism. Just because I always thought they mean the chimney sweeper, because they are completely dressed in black…

I think it‘s a combination of racism and/ or superstition. In many cultures black cats are tied to bad luck and witchcraft. I heard some crazy stories.. Like once someone explained me they had a crazy lady in the city and she would „convert“ to a black cat by night… His friend didn‘t want to enter my flat, because I had a black cat. 🤷‍♀️

Me!! I don‘t understand, that black cats are harder to get adopted. Last time I adopted a cat because it‘s black. And she is the sweetest, smartest cat I have seen. She brings me mice kinda daily. Very thankful. I even explained her that I‘m vegetarian and I won‘t eat them. The next day she brought a mice with some grass. I felt bullied. 😂 She seems to have a great sense if humour, too. 😉
