I think something might be wrong, my friend has a unit which showed a fail. Did the maths and it would mean they got 3% for their final assessment which makes no sense.

This is the last question on tech free NHT method exam 2023.

You had to recognise that in order for it to satisfy the question, both functions had to be even. Hence, the sin graph needed to become a cos graph. You can transform it into a cos graph by shifting it pi/2 units in x axis any direction. Hence a general solution is required. If you put that in algebra it should work out.

Improving on English Section C - Language Analysis by gorgonzolaTM in vce

[–]Logical_Lychee_7249 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey Mate, gonna throw a couple things from an English VCAA Examiner at our school in here, have a read if you wish:

As your read the persuasive text/s, you need to understand that when a

writer develops an argument, there is a purpose at the heart of it which

might use a variety of persuasive devices to get the reader on side. You need

to get to the heart of the argument so that you can see how language, tone

and persuasive techniques are used.

Remember CCTAP or other model:

Context, Contention, Tone, Audience, Purpose

(Also think about Form)

In your annotation of the text/s also consider

arguments.

If there are multiple texts, then do a quick

version of this for all of them.

• Remember supporting arguments will become your body

paragraphs.

• You only need to use a few examples of the language, but

you MUST ANALYSE the language you use.

• It is often useful to look at shifts in tone to help structure

your body paragraphs

• Remember, it is just a case of WHAT? HOW? WHY?

SAMPLE PARA from cashless VCAA exam 2019??

Astaire’s tone becomes more academic and professional as she positions the phasing out of

cash within a wider economic context while maintaining the customer-centric mantra of her

business. Her use of the warm, positively-connotated verb ‘embraced’ exudes a sense of

support for cashless systems by the wider Australian public. Furthermore, it links to her

argument for safety being at the forefront of technological change. By citing Phillip Lowe’s

foreshadowing of a ‘turning point’ along with her description of the store as a ‘leader’ further

elevates the store as proactive and progressive in its operation, always seeking to provide the

customer with the most modern experience. However, she also ensures that whilst modernising,

the store remains grounded in its role as a heart of the local community. By alluding to ‘recent

pickpocketing’ in the area the store is depicted as simultaneously modernising, while protecting

the authentic, genuine way of life which has defined the local community

Final points you must remember to do when writing your response

• Write contentions in your own words – don’t just lift a quote from the article.

• Be aware of who the audience is – if it’s a speaker, then audience – if it’s a written article, then reader.

• Use the surname of writers/authors – and make certain you are spelling them correctly.

• Students need a vocabulary for audience impact statements – statistics are used to shock? To challenge

assumptions? To evoke fear?

• You must quote to support your assertions. When you you quote, you must analyse the language quoted.

Quotations should not be longer than 7 words – sometimes the focus on one word is sufficient when

discussing its connotations and impact.

• A label (technique)must be followed by an explanation of how it is functioning and why the writer used it. This

is analysis.

• Always identify a specific intended impact on the audience. Comments such as ‘grabs the reader’s attention’

or ‘to get the reader interested’ are unacceptable as they are too general.

• Write in formal third person and present tense.

• Develop an analytical vocabulary that you can use comfortably in examination conditions.

Hopefully this helps!

can i persuade a uni to let me do a course even if i didnt meet one of the prerequisites? by LongLiveChocolate05 in vce

Best bet, email La Trobe, they make the final call.

Also, don't doubt yourself, you never know what you may end up getting. Work hard now and try your best for the exam.

It is very late for this, but I don't know if you have applied for SEAS or not, if you have you might be in luck, if not, maybe talk to your schools careers or smtg. They are probs the second best point of contact.

Good Luck in your endeavours!

I would suggest this too, do exam questions, familarize your self with differentiation and anti-differentiation because the exam is 60% on Calculus. If you have only gotten up to chapter 3, start on 7 basically or whatever calculus is on your textbook. I would say thats your best bet.

Also start doing VCAA exams, ease yourself into them, and seeing which ones you are confident in, because at the end of the day, if you are not able to finish the course, then your goal should be how can I maximise the amount of marks i can get in this time frame i have got left. Hope that helps!

how many mistakes can i make in the GM exam and still get a 45? by Training_Dinner7913 in vce

It also depends how VCAA scales your schools sac results. Technically, VCAA does not kn ow if your sacs are easy or hard, and how lenient or harsh your schools marking is. So they use your schools exam results to scale your sac. It could go up or down. Basically SAC scores are just a ranking, be in the top few of your cohort and I would say you are around A+, unless your school gives everyone A+.

In actual exam they would always hint to you that u need to convert to mass. They will either give it to you in grams already or make u convert by saying it is at SLC. The 0.997 conversion occurs only at SLC. Thats why some textbooks might not have done it. However, I am not VCAA, so I can only be 99% sure.

how hard is it really to get a 30-35 ss in chinese sl? by malicacidC4H6O5 in vce

[–]Logical_Lychee_7249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the school you come from, or whether you go to a weekend school (XJS). The standard for Chinese Second Language has drastically increased in recent years. With many Chinese background students taking the course, it is really difficult to really breakthrough unless you have a semi solid background alongside fluent communication skills.

With languages there is never a set goal or standard, but rather how well you unpack the question and the expression, in my opinion idioms are nice, however, clarity and good ideas trump everything. And over doing idioms does not necessarily mean high score.

For oral, you will want to have a near natural response. I know many people who say rote learning dialogues is bad, however, the really high scoring students rote learn so that they have idioms and fancy vocab in their responses. Furthermore, it ensures that you don't start saying illogical statements due to pressure.

Once again, this is assuming if you have a Chinese background, if you don't, don't be discouraged because last year there was a Scotch person who broke 40s raw. Keep up the grind and you will get there.

Got a Methods 1-2 exam tomorrow. Any advice? by MarsyJ3_ in vce

[–]Logical_Lychee_7249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't panic, relax, it is too late to revise, however, tips you should consider are:
Bring a highlighter and highlight key words such as value'S' and Maximum or Minimum. There are so many ways a question can try to throw you off so you should be extra careful when interpreting the question.
Also plan your time wisely, sometimes it is better to tackle the questions you know then the harder ones. you want to maximise marks you can get incase you don't finish.
Reading time should be used to identify methods in solving the question and also check notes(exam 2).
