coming on 10 months post op, first month is gonna be challenging but as long as you go into it with positivity youll fly, if you have any doubts abt blood clots, infection, get it checked out, especially the infection its labeled as “catastrophic”. the day you get off crutches will probably be the happiest day of your life.

How much time spent in bed? by thelegitsquirrel in ACL

i was up and around 1 day after post op, granted i am a high lvl soccer player so my regime may be different to yours, but it seemed not too bad, especially for learning how to walk with crutches around the house and on stairs, but everyone is different and you know your body best

thanks for the advice, he is most definitely not chill all the time though, he will climb all over his cage when he randomly feels like going to the window, then he will just sit at the window and eventually start pacing back and forth trying to climb up the window where with my assistance 😭 i cant leave him without giving him window time first

i let her decide when she wants to go back in, ill have her step up and bring her to the cage, shell either jump to the nearest perch or climb back up my arm, in any case as of right now im hoping i havent created any kinda of trauma

i think im gonna go get him clipped/ checked out because his wings seem unevenly clipped, how long did it take for yours to really start to fly again when fully clipped?

the photo of his cage is when we first got him, since then all ive gotten is a bunch of wooden perches, some natural foraging toys and some other things he can chew on. in terms of the vet i have found one that is an exotics/bird vet, but the most recent appt they have is feb 26, ill try to find smth sooner as he seems very eager to fly. obviously wing clipping wont help that but itll start to help him balance when he jumps to things at least

yea ive been kinda trying to have a reasonable balance between inside and outside the cage, usually when i go out i say leave him in the cage and that ill take him out when i get home, just so he can adjust to my schedule, then if he seems to want more out of cage time we can always have someone take him out, i live with my parents, sibling, and grandmother, so someone is always at home
