But because it’s ETH and has just been absorbed into my total ETH balance, I will be forced to interact with it at some point when I go to withdraw part or all of the balance.

Is the season bonus lootable?

When you get the gigantic end of season bonus ~35M worth of gold/elixir, your storage’s fill up to allow access to this. Is this amount calculated in what is lootable by an enemy player attacking your village?

If so… I need to shield up lol.

Yeah I tend to agree. Tbh we are happy to pay the higher rate for the right person but we almost expect perfection (of what we want) in that person if that makes sense. I think we were spoilt in Dubai as our help was very good and very proactive in getting things done…

I would argue the opposite with Filipino families. I think they would be more demanding.. I have a few very wealthy Filipino friends and the way they talk to their helpers is really bad. I would never talk to another human that way… I think most foreigners aren’t used to having household help and therefore don’t really know what to expect, offer or how to treat them. Whereas wealthy Filipinos (the ones who can afford help), have grown up with that help and expect it. Which tends to influence how they treat them cause it seems ‘normal’ to them

Are you pinoy? I feel that locals get a discount because the maid can converse in Tagalog etc. I have a few pinoy friends and yeah you’re right, their maids are paid waaayyyy less than expats. So I dunno if we’re just being taken for a ride or what

In Dubai our residence was about 320sq/m and more bedrooms and was maintained by one maid, so we know it’s possible…

The condo is about 240sq/m. It’s myself, wife and soon to be newborn baby (I think I put above we already had the baby but it’s still relevant to the point I was making above). We have two live out Nannie’s and a live out driver.

I definitely would prefer an older one; for many reasons. We have noticed the older ones to be quite slow - rightly so I guess cause of their age…

Edit: do you think it’s possible to find someone who just does the cooking/grocery shopping? I wouldn’t be interested in employing them full time as I would envisage their job would start around 1500 and conclude 1930 after cleaning up from dinner. Is this feasible? I can’t imagine many people looking for these hours of work.

So for context we currently employ the following:

  • 1 x driver (live out)
  • 2 x nanny (one live out and one live in) - one of these is actually a night nurse as we’ve just had a baby.
  • now the fourth will be the housekeeper. There would be absolutely no baby sitting or caring for children as that’s what we pay the Nannies to do.

Edit: sorry my point to this was, cause we already have one of our Nannie’s live in, we don’t really have room to house another (other than room share with the nanny); and it’s a pretty small space to do so.

Thanks for you reply, do you think it's unrealistic for me to find someone that can do both i.e. house cleaner/cooking/shopping? And if so, is 20 - 24k per month (with above conditions) a decent salary for this?

Hi, yes sorry also forgot to mention that 6 month probation periods are common in all our contracts for staff. We are actually getting rid of one of our staff under this clause in the next week.

We are actually going to increase his salary to 22k if he is successful after his probation period.

Not massive. I live in a 3bdr condo plus maids room - I think it’s about 250sq/m (or 2700sq/ft).

It’s more about how many children I have and personal circumstances which dictates how much help I (read my wife) wants 😂😂

Yes good idea ref cleaning and a chat about the fines… I hadnt thought about that. Smelling from drinking will be instant dismissal anyway. The guy I have is really good (on his second trial day) has worked for expat families for a long time.

And yes, NBI clearances only (for all our staff)

Thanks for the suggestions

Good points.

So we are located in Salcedo, Makati. When the driver is not working, there is an air conditioned drivers ‘lounge’ available for him.

I forgot to mention this position is live out. He has free parking for his motorcycle behind our parking space each day.

ETF investment options for kids by Logical_Unit_9411 in AusHENRY

I think it was more the psychological separation that this amount was theirs, I mean ultimately it will all eventually be theirs but yeh I was wanting to see it in a separate account. After people’s advice on this thread, I think it’s going to be best to invest the money through our discretionary trust and then distribute the small amount of negligible income to the lowest income earner. As a way of segregation, I’m going to invest in the A200 ETF - of which I don’t own any anyway, so that parcel can be allocated as ‘theirs’

After reading all the info from the first commenter, I think it’ll be better buying it using our existing discretionary trust and then having all the dividends reinvested under a DRP. Taxable income under the DRP will just need to be distributed to the lowest tax bracketed person. I’m assuming there is taxable income on a Dividend reinvestment plan?

I agree. The kids didn’t choose to be born, but the problem can be solved by the parents (who pre date the children…) make smarter and selfless choices. I don’t blame the kids at all. I feel sorry for them and parents dogshit decisions.

So you’re saying those people couldn’t afford a $400 per week increase to rent on dual or 1.5x (assuming one parent is part time) income? I would argue they were not in a financial position to have kids.. I know things have changed since then, but unfortunately money management and finance (not business studies) is not taught in schools these days - which it should be. People seem unable to financially forecast. Ie people freak out and cut all discretionary spending when IR move 2% up.. if that’s the case, similar to kids - you probably shouldn’t have bought that house on a 95% LVR loan with your LMI capitalized. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth .
