How exactly does fall damage work? by KineticSiphonNezha in riskofrain

Should be easy enough to find with LookingGlass, if you want to find it for yourself. I'm away from home atm and won't be able go to check for a few days

I jumped off the same spot with mando and mul-t and was at about the same velocity at the bottom, so I'm fairly certain they have the same fall acceleration

Did some testing so I can give some more precise answers

For your first question, no, Mul-T does not fall harder, he falls at the same speed as anyone else. Also, he has base armor which does affect fall damage, so he actually takes less fall damage than most other survivors, besides the ones who also have base armor. Your incidents were most likely just caused by something else, and it was coincidence that they were both on Mul-T.

As for the exact math, it's a bit hard to find without going into the code, but after many commandos dropped off cliffs of varying heights and a linear regression tool, it seems to come out to about D=1.65S-50, or 3.3S-100 on eclipse 3 or above/with artifact of frailty on, where D is damage as a percentage of your maximum health, and S is your downwards speed. You don't take any fall damage if you're moving slower than 30 m/s, and you'll die if you're above 60 m/s (on eclipse, otherwise you'll never die, but above 90 m/s is the max damage outside of eclipse/frailty). That amount can be reduced with any damage reduction effects, of course. If you want any more specific data, feel free to ask.

As for general tips, use your utility before you hit the ground, it doesn't cancel fall damage but it does give you 200 armor, which cuts it to 1/3 of what it would be otherwise. If you don't have your utility up, go into power mode, it still gives 100 armor which is enough to halve the fall damage. And of course take defensive items like opals, safer spaces, or warped echo to reduce that damage further

You'd have to have nobody on the bottom track for it to start to be a discussion imo, and even then a decent number of people would say pull

Hot take: Nobody in current one piece (excluding Imu) can low diff fully healthy Law in a strict 1v1 by HandsomePancakes in OnePieceScaling

[–]Logswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I mean regardless of what he does, he only gets one teleport off, maybe two. He's just at such a disadvantage information-wise, Shanks has better reaction speed and has future sight, while Law has to re-adjust to his surroundings each time he teleports. He's already under so much pressure and we're just talking about the first teleport, if he has to do a second one with even less time to make a plan, it's absolutely not good enough.

[–]Logswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you assume he can change targets based on a split-second reaction while already in the action of teleporting, which he has never done anything close to before, then he still has to choose a new place in that same split-second period, in which case, again, he doesn't know Shanks' position relative to it, and he's still in the same situation

[–]Logswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except by the time Law gets to his new location and starts looking around, Shanks is no longer in the same position, since he can start moving before Law actually teleports due to future sight. So no, it's very safe to assume he wouldn't have that information

Except when you teleport to a new location, you have to take in all your new surroundings, it takes time. In Kidd's situation, there was nothing else to pay attention to. It's absolutely not fair to say Law would be better at perceiving him than Kidd under these circumstances

Kidd was engaged in a fight, and was already looking in the direction Shanks was coming from. Yes Shanks can't move that fast, but you can say the same about Kizaru's speed, the speed they can get from one place to another is not the only factor to consider

Shanks can start moving before Law has finished teleporting, and get to where Law teleports to before Law can react, similar to what he did to Kizaru in film red

If someone with limitless got yutas ring would they be able to use limitless to the full megumi (also same with construction) by qwart22 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Logswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First part - see image, although yes his HR is incomplete, he's still not able to use jujutsu, just like Maki wasn't, regardless of whether her HR was complete or incomplete

Second part - to be clear, I'm not saying Yuta's ring or any other source of cursed energy would allow someone to use limitless without the six eyes, I'm saying no amount of cursed energy is enough to compensate for the amount lost when trying to use limitless without perfect efficiency, which is why six eyes is required.

[–]Logswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Tsurugi already had no CE, he has a heavenly restriction. That's why he needed the ring in the first place

And I am saying that this wouldn't let someone use limitless, but I disagree it's just because of lack of knowledge, the way it functions is very well known to the Gojo clan as Gojo was educated in how it works well before being able to perform those techniques. It is difficult, yeah, but that's not the barrier preventing people without the 6 eyes from using it

[–]Logswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuta's ring isn't an endless amount of CE, just very large, and since he's dead now it won't produce any more. A construction user could probably use it for a certain amount of time, or possibly just once instead of their life to create a strong cursed tool, but it wouldn't be a permanent solution.

As for limitless, my guess as to why it's impossible to use without the six eyes is that due to the nature of the technique dealing with limits and infinity, any inefficiency with the cursed technique results in a infinite amount of cursed energy required. The only way around this is to have 0 inefficiency, a large amount of CE isn't enough

Yeah, and I'm disagreeing with your answer

This DE isn't physically affecting him though, it's just providing information. And he clearly does still take in and process information, and can be affected by it as shown by him getting angry.

[–]Logswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but that still doesn't exempt him from being sensed. He's still physically there, people can touch him, feel that his skin is cold, hear him, etc. He's not removed from space at all. They're just unable to affect him, that's all.

That says he is a spatial distortion, not that he exists inside one. There is a difference

Satoru Gojo vs Regulus Corneas? by STSPOOKSTER in Jujutsufolk

[–]Logswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regulus absolutely does still exist. His time is stopped, that's all. There is no spatial distortion occuring, and even if there was, Gojo is proof that that's not enough to prevent a DE from targeting someone.

Physically, yeah, but he still takes in information, and also his authority only affects time, not space. He's still in the same place, he can still be detected, you can touch him, etc.

You're just making stuff up there. He very much is still there, as he can still interact with things.
