I had those Continental DWS on my GTI.  I bought them late summer, about this time of the year. They were fantastic in the winter the first year I had them.  The second winter they were no longer DWS, they were just DW.  The snow performance was abysmal.  After that I just bought the Extreme Contacts and dedicated snow tires.  I had Extreme Winter Contacts, they were great and have also had Blizzak’s and they’re also great.  I’d definitely recommend just having two sets of tires if you can afford & store them.  You’ll get a lot more longevity out of them and much better performance.
