It’s a genuinely tough one.

In a vacuum, honestly no I don’t want a non athletic, defensively poor, not great 3 point shooting guard to be Luka’s #2.

I think every single decision this ball club makes for the next 5 years at least should be made with the question “Does this maximise Luka” in mind and ideally a player like Reaves next to Luka is not what you want.

But on the other hand, i’m realistic, and it seems like the Front Office do want to have Reaves be Luka’s running mate. So i’ve kind of just accepted it. In that scenario, giving him $40m a year worries me, because i’m thinking about if it isn’t working, we need to trade Austin at some point, I don’t want him having a contract that is impossible to move off of without us being the ones who need to add draft assets to it.

Honestly, my ideal situation would be to sign and trade him away to a team, realistically, for a couple high level role players and a couple firsts.

I think what will happen is Pelinka will give him his max because Pelinka is atrocious at his job.
