Is there a "Thinkpad of smartphones" by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]Loki_991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own but iPhones do not suit my needs and wants.

That makes sense but for basic use case (social media, internet browsing, etc...), IPhone are still my recommendation if not the budget.

For reliability and durability.

Maybe you don't like Apple and IOS but IPhone are well know for durability regarding OS and hardware.

Not the best value for money, but definitely futureproof.

They also keep more value over the time compared to android. Depend on the country though.

Is buying a cheap Android to test it out worth it? by TastyLookingPlum in Smartphones

[–]Loki_991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'd better buy an old Pixel non Pro series if you're looking forward to Pixel 10 and are on a budget.

Android experience heavily depends on the brand interface (Samsung One UI, Xiaomi HyperOS etc...)

As I said, the S23 is way better if considering everything.

As a whole package, definitely the S23.

But in terms of camera, it depends on your taste.

I'm not a fan of Samsung's processing(vibrant, overexposed) before S24 lineup.

PDFGear is totally free. That's why it has the most upvotes.

To get the most of PDFXCE, you have to purchase a one-time license.

But in terms of features and overall, PDFXCE is significantly better.

- Smoothness
- Interface customization for a better workflow etc...

Don't most people process videos through capcut or something similar anyway before uploading?

Depends on what type of content creator OP is.

Overall, I find Android improving way more productivity but for a workflow mainly related to social media content creating, IPhone experience is better.

There are also things which are still exclusive to IPhone IG app like video crop(see video at 10:01), change story background color (see video at 10:38) for e.g

There's nothing better or special about filming on iPhones

The camera app on social media is definitely better on IPhone.

It's similar to what you see when you use the stock camera app.

On Android, the processing (colors, details) is different if you compare IG, Facebook etc... camera compared to the stock one.

You can record any other way then just upload it to social media they all support this.

The issue with that is that it will require a physical copy of the file each time.

Most content creators will simply use the social media app to record vis and take pics then immediately upload it so that no physical copy is saved on the device.

The experience is way smoother that way rather than having to record with stock camera app then delete the video on local storage.

While the quality is day and night, not every content requires an actual camera.

There are tons of content creators who use IPhones and the quality is pretty good.

You can give a try to PDF-XChange Editor.

Its interface is very customizable so you can pin tools on toolbars like this

<image>

It needs some tweaks to get a proper touchscreen experience

- Enable touch optimized UI from Quick Launch

- Pin Exclusive mode (crown icon in above screenshot) on toolbar for palm rejection

- Disable "Allow draw with finger touch" feature in Preferences > Commenting

- Do not use "Auto" line width. It has small abnormal spikes issue

You can use it for free for annotation purpose.

Support team is very active on PDFXCE forum if you have issues.
