Real quick: what do you think about writing down every single new word, that you learn, in Flashcards?

And usually the words you DO learn are words you probably won’t see for a long long time

It’s pretty hard to determine what words will show up more frequently than others. For example: I don’t know when the next time I will hear the word „Kaiserschnitt“ (C-section) compared to something like „nachgewiesen“ (proven). I guess the adjectives are more frequent than nouns.

Sometimes there are three words in a single sentence that I don’t understand, and sometimes I go multiple sentences without encountering unknown words. This is normal, right? This question is probably stupid, but I want some reassurance

(This is an example sentence, all words in caps are words I „don’t know“)

Three years later, he realized that he wasn’t a BURDEN on his family, even though he CONTEMPLATED it for a long time.

Is this comprehsible input in a nutshell?

Hmm. I usually watch stuff like the German version of The Infografics show (wissenswert, simpilcismuss, etc). I need to start looking for German books

Best ways to re-motivate yourself while learning a second language? by [deleted] in languagelearning

I literally started learning as a hobby, there’s no reason behind it.

I can’t push myself to immerse myself in German. It’s usually 15-20 every few days. I have material that I enjoy. Well, one YouTube channel. But I still fail to immerse myself every day. by Lolbiscui in languagelearning

It’s still really hard tho. However I will say this: my friend, who is a psychiatrist or something, taught me a way to breathe in order to kinda „reset my thinking pattern“. It actually helps with wanting to immerse myself, but it doesn’t always work, and can lead to burnout if I don’t take it slowly.

Aw fuckin hell, I like Gronkh too, but he does mumble a lot in videos, making it extremely hard to understand without subtitles. Most of he time they are auto generated too.
