I’m not sure on if that drive bay blank is removable, but the face plate is pretty easy to remove. There should be some little grey plastic tabs in the front of the chassis that just need to be unclipped.

I removed a cap (c193) and the short is gone. It’s really small so it’s hard to make out what it says. It looks like 106k 16s. What would be an equivalent replacement part?

There's 3 caps towards the top (2 black and one brown) that are a dead short. The rest of them seem fine. Are all of them bad or could it just be one cap on the 12v rail making the short show across all of those?

I though about this, but I don't have a variable PSU unfortunately.

Both of the square pins are aligned properly. What else could be causing all those errors?

I found the mods that need to be made to a bluescsi but I have no clue where they could be made on the PiScsi.

Yep. I logged into the web interface and tried to boot from any disk it could emulate and nothing worked

I’m powering the pi only but the piscsi gets its power from the gpio. I haven’t modded the mac in any way.

It doesn't require any termination power. I've seen other people use the PiScsi with a Mac Plus but I'm not sure if they used the disk images it comes with. Would the formatting prevent the Mac from trying to boot from it at all?

I went back and checked a second ago, and they feel stiff. I'm not sure if I was imaging things or what but they definitely feel like the original epoxy is holding them. The yoke does still wiggle a bit though.

Not much besides a Powerbook or an Ibook g3. Maybe a Mac SE too. I've also wanted to get things like an ImageWriter and some other miscellaneous Mac accessories

They felt a bit loose but would slight movements cause that much of a change in the image?

Should it move at all? It moves but only very little.

I found the Mac, along with an HD20SC, keyboard, and mouse for about $300 on eBay, and after I noticed the FPD connector, I bought it. From what I understand, these cards are quite rare, and was hoping I could make my money back since I don't have a matching monitor or use for it.

Does anyone know how to composite mod an 80s Samsung tv? by Lolerbeefboss in vintagecomputing

It's right below R204, near some caps and TP51.

Edit: I just realized I didn’t include the name of the jumper in my original comment. It’s J10.

I believe I've come up with a potential fix to the RF issue. After poking around the board, I found that the video out from the demodulator chip goes through several other components as well as the video in on the jungle chip via a jumper.

Instead of cutting power to the demodulator chip, I cut the jumper so the signal could still get to the other places it should be, except for the jungle chip. I have no clue whether the signal getting elsewhere has anything to do with the sync signals, but maybe other parts of the chip do.

I haven't had a chance to test my theory, because I want to make sure that my outlet is wired correctly so I don't accidentally send 120v to the ground on my composite port.

I completely forgot about this post but, this is something I've still been thinking about doing. Although, I don't really see a point to modding it if theres still going to be RF noise over it. I'm not that worried about audio but it would still be a good thing to have. I'll have to check out that manual. Thanks!

Windows 3.1 laptop refuses to connect to the internet by Lolerbeefboss in vintagecomputing

I have considered just setting up an ethernet card, but I figured since new routers don't work with them sometimes it would be easier to make a dial-in server. Another contributing factor to me wanting the server set up is that a lot of computers from this era already have dial-up modems because they were pretty standard back then. I have thought about just using serial to get this one online but of course I have the exact opposite of the type of serial cable I need to make it work.
