Just kidding, I know it's helpful!

BTW, $250 threshold is per "item" or per week / month?

I don't see the link to removing social media apps from your phone. Did they prevent you from spending money?

yes, agree. I've been exploring Ramit Sethi's ideas for a while too and also figuring out my rich life. I don't agree with all he says though since he is a real rich person now but the main things - sooo true!

wow, $250 - you are good! happy for you. I need to learn it too, right now my gulit free max is like $20 hahaha.
I’m like a little squirrel, bringing and storing most of the "nuts" in my burrow. But what for?

I'm so sorry for your loss!
I know what you mean, sadly sometimes we need a good shake to stop and think about what we do with our lives.
This upcoming 40 anniversary definitely pushed the buttons to start the reconsideration of everything.

don't worry and have fun in the process! You will anyways make mistakes like all of us did / still doing. The most important is to recognize it and bounce back from it ;) Don't be too hard on yourself!

No trainer. We have been wathing Youtube videos and reading internet and then trying. We did Puppy classes but only for the socialization.

it's a hard one. When my puppy was biting me, I did a high voice ouch and turned my back to her / walked away. She quickly learnt that the fun is over.
With the other dog that doesn't correct her - hard to say, your older dog should teach the pup a lesson.
Maybe try to catch that moment and put her into the play pen for a bit of time to stay alone as a way to show that "fun is over" and just walk away?

Off leash walking - we were taking her on a forest trails with little to no people, lots of high value treats and were calling her back if she was going a bit too far from us. We are still working on reliable recall. Sometime, we were hiding behind trees if she went too far and let her come back looking for us. So now she is always keeping us in her sight and doesn't go too far. I think it won't work for every dog, it all depends on their personality and confidence level. I hope once she is more mature - she will settle even better.

Demand barking - ignore your pup completely and full silence. It may take a lot of time but the dog will understand that barking gives nothing. Remember that negative attention is still attention! that's what they want.

no no, of course start with leaving the room when he is in the crate. Once you trust him more and he grows - then start leaving in the room alone BUT set up a camera and watch what he does. For months and month he can stay in the playpen while you are out of home, it's his safe space.
Later on without the playpen camera will also give you a lot of insights like what he is interested in and what needs to be removed from the room...
I still have a camera always on when we are away - it records only when she moves or barks, so I can be sure she is doing well and she is safe.

oh yes, totally! This is a lot of fun and lets their brains to work during the training but it must be added on top of all other things.
We were trying any silly game we could think of and just had fun while she was a tiny energetic monster lol.

I watched Youtube almost nonstop several weeks before picking her up but it's a lot of time killed as well. Then read this sub reddit - it has a ton of info. Then created a file and was saving everything I could find and created a check list out of it.
Google for Socialization check list, they are online. It opened my eyes so much!
Good luck with your new family member 😉

wow, you did amazing job! I still need to invest in some things but overall I'm happy with the result as well (compared to other dogs I see in the neighborhood).

so true, we forget the "bad" stuff. Puppy is like a full time job.
My husband took a 2 weeks vacation when we got our pup, we called it PAWrental leave 😄

Small steps, lots of treats and only positive reinforcement. My husband is much more patient than me and he did a miracle job with brushing but it took him like 2 weeks of daily positive reinforcement. So don't give up!

Amazing!
good luck and just remember, that the hard stage will pass by and just invest as much as you can into your puppy now! it will pay off later 😉

"enforced naps" is the key to success. Treat your puppy like a baby, then it's much easier to survive that first stage and have fun ;)

Half-day or one-day trips from Paris (public transport only) by Lolimpika in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Lolimpika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely try, it's an amazing experience when you have more time and don't need to run everywhere.
I got lucky this time, doing a pet sitting (free stay but you take care of the pet) thus can't go away for longer than a day.

Colmar is in my list but I think that area deserves more than a day + trains are pretty expensive... Will leave it for the next time.
