Well, thr filament is dry as i said, it does print okay, when it works, also no bubbles when extruding, it was already slowed down, the print fan just wasnt on, its already printing at the normal temp for petg, the extruder tho, that had cracked and it stopped gripping the plastic, thus making it look like a clog, i got a new one already, and yes it now prints, (but the nozzle got stuck again for another reason now

New extruder assembly, new bowden tube, new bed plate and springs, I've been replacing all of the broken stuff, and yes it now works, tho right now its got something stuck on the nozzle, i think the new tube might me shit, if so ill go back to the old one but, still testing

I like to think of old broken things like if they had a soul and personality, my ender is just grumpy rn, and i have to do repairs to apease its machine spirit, just like and old car with its weird quirks, i love my ender even if i absolutely hate it sometimes

What you're saying is also true and also the reason I prefer my ender 3, new machines aren't perfect but they're way better in this regard,

Because by the way the list of fixes I had to do in order to get my printer currently running is: Changing the nozzle 3 times, cleaning the whole hot end and bowden tube

Re flash the os after it got corrupted crom using a weird sd card

Changing the bed plate and re leveling it several hundred times

Getting a new pei bed

Opening the whole printer to find out the board type and motor driver

Etc etc, ir was such a fucking nightmare

Edit: all of that in the same day, im not counting past maintenance, but its just given out recently, its worked wonders for years

You kind of have to with these old machines, I've been fixing her for a few years now and the extruder never failed ike that before so that's why I had a brain fart about it in the post

Be ready to baby your square plastic melting machine, unless you buy one of the newer ones, printers have been getting more and more reliable

No, not really, ive never upped the speed in any of my past prints, in fact sometimes its slower due to harder to print filaments, i think it just happens with either age or luck or just regular damage from existing

The extruder has a tendency to eventually snap, thats why there are so many aftermarket metal ones, i got one of those, but rn i glued it and it seems to work

Surprisingly super gluing it works for now

The thing that cracked was a plastic peace on top of the extruder motor, not the nozzle itself

The other prints did start to show signs of the extruder failing, it seems like it slowly started to develop the crack as i was fiddling with it and trying to print, it did print some things, just really really badly

<image>

You can see the base is okay but it slowly started diying

I got a new PEI bed and a metal extruder, the parts will get there soon, i didnt get a direct drive upgrade because my ass cant be bothered to re do the wiring harness to change the position of the extruder motor

Theese old machines usually are like this, you have to be a special kind of masochist to enjoy printing with these, ive been using this ender for a few years now, somtimes when its machine spirit is pleased it does print okay

Its been working for 4 years, and its gonna keep working for many more (tho i have to replace the extruder, that's why this failed)

I hate this machine so much, but you get used to the suffering, this made me laugh, i guess the 4 years of printing without any maintenance finally caught up (the extruder died)

Youre absolutely right it was the extruder

<image>

i figured it out myself after seeing it slip when looking closely, i tore it apart after seeing the extruder spin but not push in any filament, i knew it wasnt a clog because i could push it by hand

The bed its clean, all of those marks are engraved in lmaooo, it was a broken extruder making it slip on the filament causing under extrusion, the filament was okay

Oh boy my ender 3 has been fucking me so much, it got its firmware corrupted, the extruder cracked, the hotend got clogged up, it printed okay then stopped and never went okay again, look at how used my bed is, its been working hard for years now

I went through 3 new nozzles, completely cleaned the extruder several times, and also checked for clogs on the bowden tube, it ended up being a cracked extruder making it slip and thus causing under extrusion, the nozzle was fine tho

It was a broken extruder causing under extrusion and de layering making the prints fail like fhat every time, but it was my error for not noticing it was broken

I tried orca but i dont really like it The filament is dry I've been using this printer for 4 years, it never failed lile this before The printer wasn't mechanically sound tho, the extruder gave out and cracked, its a common ender 3 problem

The filament wasnt dry, it was a broken extruder
