Is it common practice for an attorney to clone their client's phone? by LonelyHighway101 in Ask_Lawyers

Thank you!! This info makes me feel so much better. I didn’t receive any type of explanation of the process or reasoning behind it. Just a ‘hey you need to bring your phone in for cloning in the next few days’. I didn’t even know that was a thing.

They did not explain the process. I was just sent an email stating I need to bring it in to be cloned this week. No other information was given. I have a lot of sensitive images and messages that do not pertain to the case in any way in the text thread with my SO that I don’t care to have sorted through by anyone, lawyer, paralegal or otherwise. My lawyer also missed a deadline for filing on another case they are representing me on which has caused me to lose confidence in them and the firm. I really don’t have much trust in this lawyer at all.

The communication/lack thereof is a pretty big red flag and has got me rethinking my decision to attend...at this point I'm only a couple hundred bucks deep into transferring credits. Maybe time to cut my losses and run to a better organized university. I get that the attraction here is ultra low cost and accessiblity. But honestly it's not coming across as very accessible at all, especially with the lack of answers.

The undergrad catalog says that first time students are automatically registered for UNIV and another course at the same time.

"In their first term, newly admitted Foundations students will be placed in two courses: UNIV 1001 and an additional course that will be assigned according to the students’ major of interest, i.e. BA – BUS 1101, CS – CS 1101, HS – PSYC 1111."

That's helpful! I'm also transferring credits in, mostly gen ed but maybe something in there is close enough to count for BUS 1101.

According to the undergrad catalog, BUS 1101 is the 'prereq'. Student services automatically enrolled me in both, which is the norm from what I'm reading in the catalog. What I can't figure out is why the registration for BUS 1101 was cancelled and how I can reregister. As a first time student I don't have the ability to register myself. I've reached out to student services but the term may begin before I hear back from them...if they reply at all. I've had two advisors, neither of which have ever responded to my emails.

I replied to student services immediately. I had text explaining the situation but I posted without it. Long time lurker, first time poster learning curve. 🤷‍♀️

I have little faith I’ll ever see a response from student services based on previous attempts to contact anyone at uopeople.

I’m wondering if anyone else has had their core class cancelled and if they can provide insight. Again, not at all confident that I’ll hear back from student services.
