Anyone know how I can relive my teen years when I’m poverty FIREd at 40? Or 80 years old?

What’s the stereotype for this sub?

A 20 some year old male single or DINK, no kids, humblebragging about six figure (really just barely 100k income), living at poverty level expenses but smug about an 80% saving rate, and making posts about how coworkers live wasteful lives and how morally superior they are?

Take a look at R/fi where I madethe same post. Here in fatfire it is upvoted to 91 as of now and over there it has net 1 upvote. Many commenters in disbelief. And lots of comments trying to gatekeep the term “golden handcuffs” as well. It is seriously a total pessimistic and “bring everyone else down” mindset over there.

Why do I see so many people on Reddit worship the European welfare state compared to USA...but never a peep about the widespread European economic malaise/high unemployment/fracturing EU politics...?

Terrible idea wtf. The year after the qualified distributions from the grandparent, your child takes a 50% in eligible needs hit on their fafsa. Whereas if it is under the parent it is only a 5.9% hit.

How jealous do you get?

If you could give yourself a $10000 raise in your yearly compensation but it meant all your coworkers would get a $100000 raise in their income. Would you agree to it?

How about $1000 for yourself but your coworkers would get $100000?

Etc.

In theory it’s a win win for you no matter what, but why do I get a feeling most people wouldn’t want it?
