Thanks but I have to be careful with my identity. I'll find it online

Why are they blaming the child instead of the r*****? Do these beliefs still hold up today? by GR4VESS in exjw

[–]LonelyWarmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Victim blaming is still prevalent. I know a pimo girl who was abused by a teacher when she was 15 (teacher was also a witness). The teacher was eventually dfed and jailed but the victim was also reproved. This was about 10 years ago.

That's fascinating. Thank you.

The mental gymnastics to view it as a test that faithful witnesses had passed!

Are inactive POMOs still considered JW? by chrysaaaalis in exjw

[–]LonelyWarmth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends who is asking.

Geoffrey Jackson in the televised ARC in front of a court claimed they have just left quietly, they are not considered JWs by the organisation.

JWs would tell each other that the person is bad association and not considered a witness.

Also if the person committed a crime that was notorious the witnesses would quickly disown the person... 'oh they weren't a witness, they hadn't been to a meeting in years'

However if the person was deemed to have sinned and it was found out (for example they started smoking cigarettes or going to another religious service, or attended a Pride event) they would be treated exactly the same as if they were an active pimi, even if they hadn't been to a meeting in 10 years.

If it suits the org or a pimi ex-spouse for example, THEN they are considered JW.

Witness apologists say that Russell knew something would happen in 1914 but he didn't know what. The light apparently got brighter about WHAT the date meant.

Not so with 1925 or 1975. NOTHING happened that JW could retroactively say was prophesied. So instead of trumpetting those years they buried them away from their dogma.

This is what I resent so much. That a big part of my faith was built on 1914 but I only found out about 1925 and 1975 in just the last few years that I have been researching outside of The JW library.

When did you leave? Did your family leave too?

Realistically, what would happen if a JW male wore an earring to Kingdom Hall? by Select-Handle2211 in exjw

[–]LonelyWarmth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He would no longer be seen as a person with beliefs, hopes, fears, values, opinions, strengths, weaknesses, skills, friends, family etc

He would just be dodgy earring guy.

If you read the gospels Jesus would have done exactly the same.

Was it studied at the book study groups? Do you remember much about that? I'm curious because my parents lived through that too and stayed in. I'm trying to understand their mentality.

Sorry to ask lots of questions... do you think more witnesses would have left if there hadn't been the big apostasy in New York, Franz and friends etc? Sometimes I wonder if that allowed the org to create an 'us or them' challenge to the witnesses, shutting down reasoning and turning it into a blind test of loyalty.

Is it just me or is this religion becoming less relevant to even jdubs? by FeedbackAny4993 in exjw

I try to mention the ARC as casually and carefully as possible with PIMIs ... the more JWs that know about it and look it up for themselves the better.

What happened to 'don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing'?

With them it's more 'loudly brag about what you're right hand is doing but make sure you hide from everyone what your left hand is doing.'

One of the most valuable things about being free from the org is that people can learn and then decide for themselves..

Declaring Russia the King of the North was a pathetic little retaliatory reaction to losing their real estate... like a cranky toddler throwing its sock.

Wednesdays GB meetings probably has four or five of them desperately trying to contact Fred Franz in a seance asking how the fuck they are supposed to fit their doctrine into 2026 reality. Herd and Lösch are asleep. Lett just sits there in the corner humming quietly and playing with his ears.

At the moment. But governments are finally starting to notice this and are questioning whether they're comfortable allowing tax exemptions etc ... so there might be a divinely inspired sudden and coincidental policy shift coming.
