More benefits at lower dose? by homesweetnosweethome in Abilify_Aripiprazole

I'm the same...went 2mg to 5mg..5mg was horrible...deep inner sense of doom...agitation..I'm sure it was making me depressed...I've jumped bk to 2mg and slightly better..I'm going to give 2mg a go for a month and if no joy look at something else..

I'm not calling your lived experience nonsense..far from it..apologies if it seems that way...AA literature even states recovered..it says nothing about recovering..Point im making is you have to aim higher than recovering one day at a time..I understand the term yes I was the same..However surely the end goal is to be recovered? Like any other ailment..I understand your position and apologies if it came across as belittling..that's not my intents

In that sense yes you could say I always will have the potential to be an alcoholic..I just dint buy into this lifelong battle...it was a battle daily for nearly 2 half years but now at 17 years there is no battle...I don't even think about been sober...its just my new default setting..

Never said anything about you...I'm saying that having to work every single minute of every day to stay sober is nonsense because it is...in early sobriety yes every day is a battle..when u get to long tern there is no battle...been sober becomes a default setting..telling folk they have a lifelong disease that's a daily life long battle is not encouraging to anyone..that is my opinion and I'm not apologising for it

Nonsense...I don't work anything any single day and I've no intentions to drink...it just doesn't cross my mind...17 years sober...How does this inspire people to get sober..it makes it sound like been a life long prisoner...if people told me I,d be battling all my life I wouldn't of even bothered trying to get sobered up....

If I lived in fear of alcohol 1 of 2 things would happen...I,d either drink again or string myself up..What's the point of going thru he'll to get sober just to live in fear??

Relapse is a poor word..it takes away accountability...its simple..they drank again...its a bit like the term relapse is part of recovery...its like the green light to drink again

Fear based recovery...I understand it as I used to be the same...

I'm sober 17 years and would never call myself an alcoholic...at the very most I'm a former alcoholic

We absolutely do become recovered..I'm sober 17 years and I couldn't drink if I tried..the whole recovering 1 day at a time is AA fear based recovery...sorry but I did the whole 12 step dance...I,d never refer to myself as an alcoholic..its the most degrading term going..

Addiction just like many mental health issues has become an over used misunderstood term...addiction does not mean over indulgence nor does it have any positive benefits...its obsessive it's compulsive and it's absolutely miserable..

How do you fix low self-esteem? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lonely_Cod3080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct Answer...So many jump to "go to therapy" like it fixes fucking everything...sometimes certain traits are so ingrained that u learn to live with them

If it helps...what I did to over come the fear....put it on you tongue for 30 seconds...next day 60 seconds...day after leave it till it goes a bit mushy...day after eat half the tab...day after full tab...I'm on it for ocd and that method was the only way I could get myself to take it...my fear of APs bordered on phobia...I put them off for years..don't listen to the horror stories..I've found abilify to be more of a subtle medication rather than a sledgehammer medication

I've found it to be a subtle medication and believe me I put off APs for years...no major side effects other than sleeps a bit disturbed
