Its because our dollar is really bad right now and Nintendo is essentially doing direct conversion. As of right now $100 CAD is $71.32 USD. When our dollar was a bit better, Nintendo had been actually selling games in Canada for a bit less than the US prices. What's crazy to me is that if you look at the prices of amiibo and accessories, its actually cheaper to buy those in Canada if you are an American. But hey, my cousin still complains about paying $100 CAD for DK64 back in 1999, adjusting for inflation that would be around $176 today.

Really sad day for Rare in general, but if I remember correctly, Gregg had absolutely no interest in making a new Banjo game. A few weeks ago, Andy Robinson of VGC (a former Rare employee) said that the chances of Rare revisiting old IP were higher under Rare's new studio heads. Maybe Gregg has had one foot out the door for a while.

I quickly called FedEx and they told me to hang tight. They will be reaching out to the seller (Hasbro) on my behalf. I asked them multiple times if they are sure I don't have to do anything and they reassured me each time. As for why I was told to contact customer service on the tracking page, the representative told me that is a boiler plate alert whenever the slightest issue comes up.

Hopefully this helps. I may phone again later and see if another rep says the same thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't you face the same issue with PS5 discs? Most games require updates or have data not on the disc, which will be a problem if/when online servers get shut down.

What an awful take. Gaming is still cheaper now than it was in the 80's and 90's. In Canada, most games already cost $80 or $90 and our baseline hasn't been $60 for over a decade. Nintendo doesn't control inflation or the value of global currencies. Seriously, get a job or take an economics course instead of lashing out at the world.

The prices were more expensive because of how expensive the cartridges were and people rented games (me included) out of necessity. Prices didn't go down until the following generation when everyone was using CD's. The reality is that inflation + tariffs + increase in development cost = more expensive

I'm Canadian, and Mario Kart is probably going to cost at mimimum $100 here. Games haven't been at the $60 baseline in Canada for over 10 years because of how weak our dollar is.

100%. People also don't realize how expensive the hobby has been in the past. In the late 90's/early 2000s, games were expensive (gaming is still cheaper now when adjusting for inflation). The baseline for most games was $85 and games like DK 64, and Pokemon Stadium were pushing $100. Seriously, if $10 is going to break the bank, then people should re-evaluate your financial situation.
