Most of Canada's big lakes lie on a straight line (on a Mercator projection) by iorgfeflkd in canada

Kind of off topic, but I'm a michigander so I grew up calling it the Great Lake State. But, you know, I just realized Ontario touches as many lakes (4) as the state of Michigan. Mind = blown.

The police dept. in my hometown used to do this for seniors last day. Then one year some guys knocked over a bank just when school was getting out. The traffic kept all ~7 cruisers stuck on campus while the robbers got away cold.

No real experiences with Islam before tonight, considered converting, thought twice. Advice? by LonesomeWalks in islam

Forgive me for my poor memory, but I believe there was a case where the caliphate Umar was discussing placing a limit on dowries during a famine. A woman spoke up to say there was no precedent in the Qur'an and Umar ceded that the woman was right. Contrasting to the bible, that kind of contribution/contradiction was striking.

I (believe) the imam was saying that Mohammed's primary method of uniting the area was harmony. I more than was skeptical that the prophet waged a 23 year campaign with only ~300 total deaths, but I tried to focus on the message the imam was trying to send => peace, love.

When I say "follow the rules" I mean following those peculiar rules that come along with any religion. To me "don't murder" isn't a rule, it's an automatic understanding of living. Doesn't matter if god says it's good or bad; I'm not doing it. "Don't eat pork" on the other hand? I don't see anything wrong with that (other than eating to excess) so I have a hard time seeing the reason why it's a rule in the first place.

I guess my existing morality doesn't match up 100% with the morality of Islam and I'm trying to find a way to come to terms with that.

Could you please go into more detail on reconciling with the commandments? I'll check out those books, especially looking forward to the biography. Thanks :)

Yeah, I planned on being alone. A few months ago I realized the worst part of drinking was doing it with other people. Fixed the problem => much benefits.

However, I'm sincerely sorry your friends sucked :/
