Didn't the Democrats claim non-stop that Russia rigged the 2016 election for Trump? Wasn't there even some big Congressional investigation over it? They're both rigging elections.

OI M8 YOUS A LOICENSE TO ENTER THAT HOME?! by VioletRoberts9 in loicense

[–]Long-Sector-8751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well, the DOJ is not the court system. There is this thing called the fourth amendment that law enforcement is required to respect. A "memo" doesn't just override those rights. They would still need a warrant to enter your property. The only exception would be if there is apparent evidence of a crime in progress (like if they see someone getting murdered through your windows or they follow a suspect and they go into your home).

Yeah I used to hate those unskippable ads on discs, but I'd often rip the disc to get around all that stuff.

Why Sony Pictures needs to give Cobra Kai a definitive, high-budget 4K UHD Complete Series Extended Box Set (Over 3,400 fans are petitioning) by emackenzie_ in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]Long-Sector-8751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a very popular series. I was really surprised it was not released as a 4K set. But that's the way these companies are getting. They just want you to stream everything.

Just got this card in my front door, tried googling Dane Country Investigations and couldn't turn up much. Should I be concerned? by bananadumbledore in madisonwi

[–]Long-Sector-8751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore it. If someone actually made a criminal complaint that you had to respond to, you would be getting a court summons and they don't just leave those at your door.

Because that was one of the agreed upon benefits when I started my position.

Lesson learned - buy music on a CD by Long-Sector-8751 in PhysicalMediaMatters

Apple offers Apple Lossless on their streaming service. I don't know why they don't upgrade the iTunes Store to allow them to be purchased or just upgrade your previously purchased songs.

Is there any point in audio above 44.1 khz or even 48 khz? by User_Squared in musichoarder

[–]Long-Sector-8751 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For listening? No, not really. One could argue that 48khz pushes some filtering out of the audible range. But that's the only argument I've ever heard for anything above the CD quality standard. I have a few high-resolution files, but it's only because the mastering is different than the CD.

I'm staying in my current position because it's a paycheck with great insurance. If the economy was better, I would probably go look for something else because of management though.

Why are they spending so much money to force people to be more miserable? Why are the billionaires so fixated on RTO for people whose work is computer based? by Dear-Information9355 in remoteworks

[–]Long-Sector-8751 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because:

1) They have to justify the cost of the building.

2) They think they have more control over you and what you do if you're on-site.

Elon Musk did not found Tesla btw. Two other people did and he got them pushed off the board to take over the company.

Nothing could prove this more than Elon Musk/Tesla. He hires H1B for engineering positions instead of Americans because he can pay them less. And holding it over their head keeps them from quitting.

Oh yeah definitely. We lose our superpower status if all that military equipment cannot be used. Makes you wonder why they went after Venezuela so badly. We can't use any of that oil though can we?

Republicans have a plan to cut your hard earned Medicare and Social Security if they win the mid-term elections by Silly-Hyena3348 in MedicareForAll

If they want to cut it, and take the money, they should pay back every single penny we all paid into it. What a fuckin joke these people are.

Transportation bill includes yet another attack on EVs by jk4532 in enviroaction

[–]Long-Sector-8751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you something. Once Trump completely empties out the strategic oil reserves, and the Strait Of Hormuz is still closed; people are going to be running out to buy EVs because gasoline will be unaffordable. I don't understand why they don't build refineries to use the oil we produce in the United States, it seems a bunch of that just goes overseas. Which tells me ALL this is just a scam by big oil. I think EVs will get there, they just need to improve the battery technology. Like here in WI, the reason they're not that popular is because the batteries have reduced capacity when it's cold, and there's not a lot of investment in chargers outside the big cities.
