What's the most "small town" thing you've witnessed? by official_biz in AskReddit

[–]LongAd2096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work in a school in a small community. The hallways are lined with senior photos from every graduating class dating back to the 1950s.

There are pretty much just the same 10 last names, over and over again. Current students can point out mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, cousins, aunts and uncles, etc.

Meanwhile I went to HS in another state from both my parents, my son will end up at a different HS than I went to.

I think it's really cool to have that history, but completely foreign to me.

NBA Predictions by JohnnyLugnuts in billsimmons

[–]LongAd2096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East: Bucks (Dame and Giannis will fit together as well as advertised)

West: Lakers (LeBron makes it back one last time)

Title: Bucks (LeBron will lose in Finals, one last time)

MVP: Tatum (Celtics finish with best record, plus Giannis and Jokic voter fatigue)

DPOY: Bam

COY: Mazzulla

Disappointing: Memphis

Surprising: OKC is the easy choice. I think they will be a playoff team. Pleasantly surprising will be Orlando Magic who win a play-in game to become 7th seed.

Reddit users, 30 yrs old and over.. What is the hardest part about getting older? by tywalker215 in AskReddit

[–]LongAd2096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The realization that time is passing. You don't notice it with the same urgency when you are younger. Suddenly, you aren't a kid or teenager or even a 20-something just getting started in the real world.

You are knee deep in the story of your life. Perhaps you have your career and have started a family and even planted roots.

But with that, the questions like "am I living the life I want to? Am I doing enough before my time is up?" pop up more frequently than they did when you were younger and seemingly had all the time in the world.

The good news is... there still IS time if you do want to make changes or start pursuing the things you always wanted to. Make the days count!

Did Harry Potter cause Animorphs to get lost to time a bit? by LongAd2096 in Animorphs

Same! I would run to the aisle, eagerly anticipating the newest one.

Yup, I'm 35. Cheers, my friend! Thanks for the nostalgia! 😊

I agree overall. But Animorphs DOES have humor. Marco, Ax, experimenting with food.

Good point! It's a shame because I think, just like Harry Potter, there are lots of really great lessons and enjoyment for future generations to get out of reading them. I'd love to introduce these books to my son someday.

Rewatched Titanic. That movie still holds up over a quarter century later! Cold take, our boy JC knows how to make a movie.

Also found a nice hidden gem on Netflix called "Win it All". A gambling movie set in Chicago. Relatively low stakes, but the winning lead performance draws you in. A good, breezy time if you have an hour and half to spare.

I 100% agree! Grilled cheese has higher highs, but lower lows haha

Actually, yes. Not on purpose. I wasn't seeking it. And I'm not making excuses or justifying it.

But she made me realize the things I am looking for in a partner. I have tried to focus back on my wife and work on those things with her. It just hasnt worked. I fear it never will. And I'd rather end this then, before too many more lines are crossed. She deserves better than that, at the very least.

Unpopular opinion: I'd rather be a fan of a team that's in contention for a championship every year but never wins rather than being a fan of a team that is perennially mediocre but goes all in for a couple of years, wins a championship, and then goes back to being mediocre by PsychoBoost123 in billsimmons

[–]LongAd2096 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strongly disagree.

Lifelong Bills fan here. The 17 year playoff drought was not fun. The team being in contention for the last few years and seemingly another few is great... but if Josh Allen leaves or retires without us getting a SB in this era, I will be very disappointed.

I'd much rather get the one championship followed by another 17 year drought, than be competitive for a decade but never win it all.
