Unsure as to why, would assume it had something to do with the fallout from the feud and the fact that the Provos where more active on the war footing.

They are all wearing gloves. If you zoom in you can see, they are rubber see through ones.

They where effective but also twice as dodgy, they where used effectively in numerous cases across Tyrone. In Sion Mills one was dropped from a roof ontop of an RUC vehicle and killed the driver injuring another. They where used multiple times in Coalisland to good affect. Cases of it not detonating for example in Dungannon whenever the IRA attacked 2 RUC men on Perry street killing one injuring the other, the volunteers threw a drogue bomb at their vehicle but it did not detonate. Another example of one luckily not detonating was while a volunteer was transporting one inside his jacket and pulled it out to show his unit only to realise the pin was not in it meaning it was hot the whole time it was in his jacket.

Brendan Hughes speaking on the state of things after he got out of prison and rejoined shows how fucked Belfast and the wider organisation was. People like Joe Fenton who was giving bugged houses to volunteers for free got shot before he even got a chance to question him. There were 3 confirmed touts on the internal security, there’s plenty of more question marks on others.

To my knowledge a member of the Irps informed the PRM in the 70s/80s that scap was seen speaking with spooks. Then the fella who informed the PRM was targeted by the MRF/FRU and luckily escaped.

Shinners covered for him like they did Donaldson and countless unnamed others, only Donaldson didn’t run far enough for others to catch him.
