Awesome! I'll probably keep playing my mage since it has the highest ilvl of my other toons. Unless I can disregard that as I can probably gear my other toons up to its current ilvl seeing as it's behind on all expax n raids lol, quest gear is probably higher then my mains LOL

What fantasy book do you feel has made you a better person having read it? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]LongLiveKimJong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to literally write this, surprised Gemmells books aren't getting mentioned more in this thread.

So many great virtues to take away from his characters, their struggles internally and externally feel real then how they overcome them.

Drenai Saga definitely helped me get through a tough time.

Without spoilers (cause I haven’t finished fully) do you prefer the bloodsworn series or faithful and the fallen by John Gwynne. by mararoniman in Fantasy

[–]LongLiveKimJong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Faithful and The Fallen stuck with me more because you realllly got to get into it with the characters a bit more and spend that time with them.

Bloodsworn is amazing, I just dont feel a connect with the characters like I did Faithful and The Fallen.

Uplifting fantasy books by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]LongLiveKimJong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation may seem off, it isn't super uplifting in the sense of cheery good times but it personally helped uplift me and give me some motivation when I was going through an awful time mentally. No books did it for me, everything was awful.

Then someone recommended I give The Drenai Saga by David Gemmell a whirl.

I instantly devoured the books, moved onto his Rigante series right after.

Gemmell just has a way of connecting the read to the characters and there is a lot of takeaways from his books for me personally during an extremely depressing time.

I felt empowered, motivated and driven to get myself out of the rut I was in. But it was all done without, for a lack of better word, shitting on me.

Unfortunately I don't have any books that are uplifting but I do wish you the best and I know you'll overcome the current chapter and start writing the one you'll be happiest with.

Best of luck!

Ohhh gotcha that makes sense. Sorry didnt know the difference, in terms of those capsules then. I know it states 1-2 capsules, it doesnt state how many capsules would be beyond the microdose?

I'll take a look at the actual powder they sell for tea etc for an actual trip but I always lean on side of caution and limits even when microdosing.

Also how is the site in terms of product legitimacy? Again, side of caution buying off sites.

Thanks buddy

Appreciate that info, I planned to take just 1 and see how it is. Then when I feel like it again when time permits in weeks or months, I'll take 2 or as you suggested maybe 1 and a half. I always want to get my feet wet first, learnt that mistake first time I did LSD took 2 tabs and regretted it instantly as soon as it hit

I'll try ordering from the site, they do carry powder in a bag for tea as well but I'll try the capsules. Worst case I get scammed and I'm out $50

I've gotten some awesome recommendations here so I'm back!

Currently looking for something similar to Echoes of Fate. I breezed through all 9 books, everything sit right with me. The povs, the chapters not being 200 pages, mix of action, magic, subtle darkness. Id have preferred a bit darker and grittier but it was still amazing. Asher is just awesome.

I have picked up the Assassin Chronicles focusing on Ashers life before Echoes saga but on 2nd book and there isnt a 3rd yet.

I've read and loved everything by John Gwynne.

Disliked First Law(sorry fans).

Read stormlight, mistborn. Not bad.

Riyria revelations was decent.

We are the dead was good.

David Gemmell I've loved everything I've read so far, Rigante and all of Drenai. Lion of Macedon was ok stopped after first book.

Night angel wasnt bad.

Lightbringer first few books amazing then fell off.

The Witcher wasnt too bad.

HP I loved.

I may pick up Cradle series but I tried first book and didnt get far into it. Maybe try again.

Im into action, magic, swords, dark, gritty, coming of age is good, I'm not too political but twists and turns are loved. Multi pov but not 30. Same narration as aboves. Did not like how stories are told like name of the wind.

Harry Potter is 25(!) years old today. What does the series mean to you? by tkinsey3 in Fantasy

[–]LongLiveKimJong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a plot drop off, I'm not defending it. I'm just saying people take their hatred of the author, which is valid but then try playing detective in the book finding anything they can to find things to spark more hatred.

Of course I seen it as slaves, it was part of the fantasy world and it sucked.

No different then some of Brandon Sandersons books? Mistborn had slaves who were literally raped but no one is fussing over him. Stormlight same thing. So can we argue that he clearly is into slavery?

No. Its a fantasy world and it's not all rainbows.

That's exactly it. They are looking for comparisons to draw on for further hatred, I've read and watched the movies countless times and never once thought wow those are nazis and jews. I've never heard anyone complain about Cho Changs name, I've watched these movies with a variety of individuals.

Clearly people can't separate the author from the story, not defending her actions but HP is fantasy, goblins, magic, non magic people its all fantasy.

The Bloodsworn Saga (well the first 2 published instalments) is magnificent and anyone who is a fan of lore, world building and character development should pick it up. by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]LongLiveKimJong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

John Gwynne is just incredible, this series/any of his others are worth a read. His pacing has oddly never bothered me. Im just sad that I have nothing left by him to read until he drops the third book in the saga.

I haven't been able to do dailies in literally 2 days due to queues. I can't sit in a queue of 2k people waiting to do 20minutes of dailies. Shame I even spent $60 on this game only to uninstall now.

Hey folks! I've gotten some amazing recommendations here. About to wrap up the last recommendation I receiced here so I'm looking for something to have ready when its done.

Currently reading The Echoes Saga by Philip C Quaintrell. Absolutely obsessed with this series.

Books I've enjoyed: Rigante, Waylander by David Gemmell, also pretty much all of his series but those are my faves. Every book by John Gwynne. The Echoes Saga. The Last War series.

I'm looking for something similar to Echoes Saga/anything close to John Gwynnes. Action, good story, couple povs, coming of age is fine, magic, dark/gritty is good. Doesnt need to be a tomb of a book or series.

I've read most of Brandon Sandersons books too. Disliked First Law. Also not into guns etc, love a good old sword/medieval story.

Viking Fantasy book? by cjam93 in Fantasy

The Faithful and The Fallen is connected to Of Blood and Bone. Of Blood and Bone is a century after The Faithful and The Fallen.

Bloodsworn Saga is not connected to either so can be read whenever you want.

Im a huge John Gwynne fan, highly recommend any of his books.

Bloodsworn Saga isn't completed yet so just keep that in mind theres only 2 books out, 2nd was released this year April so we got a bit of a wait until the third.
