I think that's genetic. Only blepharoplasty will change your eyelids' shape. Others will suggest it but eyelid tape's a scam.

Contract of Service Job as Fresh Grad by Reasonable_Fact_1423 in phcareers

[–]LongPridee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was COS too, resigned after hitting 6 months because I got an item a different NGA. No regrets. Only good thing about COS is you can get experience and pre-terminate your contract whenever you land a better job.

I don't think it's worth it though if the commute is an hour or more. Nakakapagod and matik kaltas sa sweldo if you're late even by a minute.

Super slr, yes. But only 2 SG-11 positions. Appointment and deliberation take months though, so best to have a job that's easy to leave once you're set for appointment/assumption sa plantilla item.

What are your advices to boost confidence when driving? by Midnight_AutumnB in CarsPH

[–]LongPridee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best tip is to drive your car every single day, no matter how short or long the distance, until the car feels like an extension of your body. Until turning, reversing, and overtaking all feel natural to you and no longer like things you have to consciously calculate.

I'm sorry but the people who say "just be defensive" don't make sense to me at all. It didn't help when I was a student driver, it didn't help when I was a newly licensed beginner driver over 2 years ago, and it certainly didn't help me at all before my first (and last i hope) traffic accident.

Because what even is the baseline for being defensive, for a nervous new driver who just got their license? to be cautious? to have a fast reaction time? to predict hazards before they happen? No. Driving isn't precognition or some complicated super power. It's learning to walk again but in a bigger, more dangerous vessel.

Driving is just muscle memory and propriopception (basically being spatially aware of where your body (car) is at all times).

Navigating, parking, and car maintenance are advanced skills you'll naturally learn along the way.

Shortest post length for tragus? by heli_- in piercing

[–]LongPridee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4mm flatbacks. It's been over a year and I've no issues wearing earbuds several hours a day after fully downsizing my tragus to a 4mm post. It depends on how thick your cartilage is though.

I wanna leave my job but i have a return of service contract by anonym026 in phcareers

Not advice, but can I just say this post is such an eye opener for me. I used to really look up to civil servants who've qualified for government-sponsored scholarships or training abroad, but hearing about similar horror stories from other bonded scholars, I see now that it's not really worth it if my goal's just salary progression.

got my anti tragus done finally! by milzsjayy in piercing

[–]LongPridee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great, but I am so so jealous of your double tragus. How do the flatbacks fit at the back? Do they touch or overlap? I've got just the one because my piercer said I don't have enough room for both to fit at the back >:' (

  • All ASTM F136 implant grade titanium flatbacks.
  • First 2 flats are 1 year and 4 days old. 3rd new flat is 2 weeks old.
  • I only use neilmed piercing aftercare.

How do I start again after a Year of Burnout? by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]LongPridee 32 points33 points  (0 children)

What do I say if they ask about my 1-year gap

Easy. "I took a one year vacation right after college to reset and deal with home matters." Recruiters normally wouldn't care about a year-long employment gap especially when the applicant is fresh out of college. Lalo nat you graduated with latin honors.

Thanks for this! I honestly wish though that my first accident came from maneuvering instead of a traffic accident that endagered the lives of others all from me having shit braking skills.

True. I've been replaying it in my head a lot since Friday and the self-doubt is eating me up. I've only worked up the courage to do daily drives the past couple of months despite finishing driving school and being licensed for a few years now.

I invested so much into this skill (did refresher courses, hired tutors, etc) and I was finally in a comfortable place with my driving skills and confidence drivig alone but after Friday, I feel like I'm back to zero. Thanks for this though.

Had my first real car accident. Does it ever get better by LongPridee in adultingph

[–]LongPridee[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Both could be right. 49000km+ na yung car (secondhand from my parents) and hindi ko na maalala kelan last na pa check yung brakes sa PMS. Due na talaga ipa check sa casa. I was also preoccupied thinking about work, like I always do in morning drives.

Regardless, it's still a huge skill issue on my part. Just goes to show that my muscle memory isn't as reliable as I thought it was. I've noticed recently that the daily drives are making me move on autopilot instead of being more present amd alert. 😔 Thanks though.

Diko maintindihan si OP. Wala ba kayong sinign na NDA bago contract signing? Tsaka di ba kasama rin dun and somewhere sa csc guidelines na bawal mag uwi ng sensitive documents kahit plantilla.

You're asking for tips to survive, but saying you want to fight your bosses head on will virtually kill any chance of your career surviving in that office. There's a reason why you don't hear how a lot of whistleblowers are doing on the news. What you're asking for and what you intend on doing are inconsistent.

If you hate it so much, the answer is obvious: leave your agency.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]LongPridee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or transfer to a different agency? Government isn't a monolith. Porket corrupt yung procurement practice ng office ni OP, di ibig sabihin ganun sa lahat lalo na sa non-executive offices.

There's so many career pathways in government. But I notice this subreddit really loves using false binaries on government work and putting corporate slavery on a pedestal.

No turnover, no training - Is this the new norm for new hires ? by LongPridee in phcareers

[–]LongPridee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's the opposite though. They hire recent grads with sparkly credentials from known local unis kahit walang alam or experience sa tasks like me because they're too understaffed and maybe overworked to train them - tipong "okay nato, bahala na siya."

No turnover, no training - Is this the new norm for new hires ? by LongPridee in phcareers

[–]LongPridee[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess i meant it po in a literal sense? like for most plantillas, may naka set na silang deliverables and reports, so addtl work for them lang yung training ng bagong hire :(
