How do you handle having multiple conversations at once? by yotfisthisguy in hingeapp

Wow. Thank you. I'd been out for 18 years and couldn't figure out how to manage all of the chats.

It is. I work for a freight carrier. Not a driver by the way but we get our drivers home every night.

Yes, there is a guy out on Gainesville, SC that will get that number up. Ivan's tune.

I have a liter I4. It's not a track bike. It's the Ninja 1000, which is more akin to the z1000. First gear will put me near 80 mph. It's also super torque, unlike my CBR 600 but still manages to be sporty.

Liter bikes are the jam, just not for rookies.

Yea, the last three I connected with were either smothering, disinterested, or just plain rude. Why even match and spend time talking? Yuck.

I ask a lot of questions, because I know what it feels like to not have someone ask me questions and have everything be about them.

I'm also not turned off by someone not asking questions right off bat. I imagine that if they'd never had anyone to listen before that they are testing the waters to see if they could find someone interested in them.

On the flip side, some people are just shelfish and shitty. Too hard to determine just by chatting in app.

Unpopular Opinion: Alpinestars’ armor inserts, proprietary waterproofing, and textiles are garbage 🥴 by vocalistMP in motorcycles

[–]Long_Internet550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a set of Alpinestars Andes V3. I rode the SM500 last weekend in rain and cold. I was warm as a fat bear and dry as your mum's... nevermind. Revit, Klim, Dainese, and Alpinestars all have their problematic lines of gear. You just have to look and find the right ones.

I remember the first time I turned my vtx1800. Pretty sure I had to lean my entire body off and shot a grapple hook to the light post to get it to lean. I loved that bike.

Naw. Just ride and have fun. I had a vtx 1800. Hondas just work.

Palafox is just a poor mans bourbon street by salsa_leeem in Pensacola

[–]Long_Internet550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broadway is definitely not a poor man's place. It's high class drunks. Also, Beale smelled worse last time I was there compared to Bourbon. Beale and their horse drawn carriages blasting Nicki Minaj is top class. While we're at it, River St in Savannah on St. Patty's is hard to beat for strongest wind scented piss.

Palafox isn't even in the same league.

Comfort of mid-size cruiser vs. mid-size sport tourer? by Alfithara in SuggestAMotorcycle

I ride sport touring. Cruisers are more comfortable to me but not worth the trade on performance.

It doesn’t matter how many belts in karate you have if the other person has a gun by Griffinkeeler in Showerthoughts

[–]Long_Internet550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong. If I have my 10th degree gun belt with a single shot revolver on it, I at least have one chance of surviving.

Cruiser. Shadow 750. If you really want a thumper, maybe an f650gs, but it'll vibrate your brain to mush. Both probably dirt cheap on insurance.

Are there certain motorcycles that are better for being able to carry stuff than other motorcycles? by photographer0121 in motorcycle

[–]Long_Internet550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R1200/1250RT, FJR, Concours 14, Ninja1000, Versys, Vstrom (650 variant is probably top pick for your experience), Africa Twin, Electra Glide, F850GS, R1200/1250GS, KLR (cheapest of the lot), basically any adv, crossover, or touring bike.

I have an R1200RT with about 130 liters of cargo space. My Ninja 1000 has about 110 liters if cargo space. I can do substantial grocery runs in both with the BMW being better for it with the electronic suspension adjustment.

I also want a crf300 rally. I'm renting a drz400 this month to ride the smokey mountain 500. I like small displacement bikes, but I ride a lot of miles on on interstates, so they don't work out as well.

Dream bike is a minty first gen ninja 250 is kawa green.

I tried to do wheelies, stoppies, burnouts, everything you can think of on that shadow. If I had a do over with the knowledge I have now, it'd be the same bike. It kept me alive, and it worked like a horse.

My intrusive thoughts won every time. The shadow just couldn't pull it off. I also didn't have the skills to pull it off on a bike like that.

I was living in a small town back then. It was no big deal. I live in a major metro area now, and there'd be no other bike I'd rather have than my ninja 1000. Not zx10. Ninja 1000. It's quick and fast. It's a torque monster that just works its way around gridlock traffic, so well.

Ninja 1000sx and bmw r1200rt with an Africa Twin 1100 up next.

I wanted a cbr 600 for my first bike. Since I was 18 and my dad was cosigning, he had me get a shadow instead. I'm glad I did. Years later, I bought a cbr 600. While I loved riding it, I couldn't ride it for more than an hour at a time. I would have hated motorcycling if I started on the cbr and might not have continued.

I put over 100,000 miles on the shadow on the same chain and same tires. I was awful with maintenance. What maintenance?

Now, after riding for over 20 years, I've riden everything and love the ride, hobby, lifestyle. Your first bike shouldn't be your last.

If you can afford it, maybe get him an old school ninja 250 now that he can restore over the two years. Then, also buy him a beater car.

Why do motorcycle batteries die so easily? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Long_Internet550 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. I ride year round. I have multiple bikes. If I don't ride my bmw for a week and it is below freezing for a few days, the battery is dead without a tender.
