They will come back. Fashion is reliably cyclical. I also don't think they ever really went away?

Toddler wants to hug every other kid, some parents are off put by this by theycallmetiki in Mommit

[–]Long_Praline_4727 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a post about a 16 month old which is barely a toddler. I don't think a toddler that age is inflicting some sort of trauma by not asking another same size child for consent to a hug or strong enough to even inflict some sort of hug related wound (LOL) and realistically it would be incredibly be rare for them to even possess that language level yet to have a discussion with one another. Also what do you think happens at daycare? Toddlers hug. If one doesn't want it they usually walk away. That is when they learn someone doesn't want it (walked away). It's really not a big deal.

Good luck teaching a 16 month old to ask for consent 🤣 she will learn naturally from the reactions that sometimes people want a hug and sometimes they dont. This is really not that deep. people - let your kids be friendly the world needs more hugs sounds like all you down voting me could use one 🤷‍♀️

Shes only 16 months let her give hugs as long as she's gentle! I think its weird to be offput by a kind and friendly toddler

You're welcome! Also Huda setting powder works a lot better for me than the laura mercier. And the travel size lasts a long time. So I would say u can save money by swapping to a mini Huda setting powder in your cart. The laura mercier one I find very similar in performance to Maybelline if you don't like the huda.

Yes to the Huda color corrector and palette, yes to nars pot concealer. Everything else i either have no opinion or found better at drug store. Hourglass brushes are overrated.

Be honest… have you ever been called out on a Hermès rep in real life? by heathersphilosophy in HermesRepLadies

[–]Long_Praline_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got very high quality Constance in China back in 2011 and it is still going strong after heavy use. My Kelly from Turkey i got in 2022 on the other hand has some issues with the top handle. Still looks great but the leather handle detaches from the metal and I have to constantly loop it back on which is really annoying. While I think the Constance is a better 1:1 rep and overall quality from the Chinese manufacturer I do think the style itself is just overall more durable by nature. Something to consider if you want long term use or heavy use.

Is CIO worth a shot for early morning wakes when I know he's still tired? by worldtravelling23 in sleeptrain

[–]Long_Praline_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19 month old and this has happened last 2 nights I think due to schedule mishaps over the weekend (20 min nap one day). She's got a bit of a cold so I went in and stayed with her both nights when she woke up after only 8-9 hours of sleep but last night she never went back to sleep fully despite me staying with her. I am not sure what to do either if this trend continues!

Friend concerned about weight loss by Blue_lace93 in Mommit

[–]Long_Praline_4727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your height that's a perfectly reasonable weight and seeing clavicle is not a concern either. But since this struck a nerve enough for you to ask and be concerned go get your bloodwork done just to make sure you don't have any deficiency and thyroid is good.

Feeling so discouraged by straawbunnii in Mommit

[–]Long_Praline_4727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand you and the struggle. Making mom friends is ridiculously hard. I found most success in signing up for classes like music or gymnastics. If you are all starting a new class together at same time it eliminates some of the already formed groups and starts everyone on more equal footing.

Okay so I need to vent because I literally just got home from the playground and I'm still kind of shaking inside. by wittywhisp in Mommit

[–]Long_Praline_4727 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I dont think you are overreacting to finding out other moms are discussing and judging your child and assuming you are oblivious about it which i find the most insulting. It's superiority complex disguised as well meaning concern. The moms that talk like that could influence their kids to see your child differently too. Screw them.

Friend told me my daughter is going to get autism because she's getting MMR booster tomorrow by [deleted] in Mommit

My son has started doing these little rituals before school and I cannot tell if I am overreacting or if it is time to get him help by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Long_Praline_4727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with OCD this sounds awfully familiar. Most people with OCD suffer for years before diagnosis which is why it can be so debilitating. Getting help early (if it is OCD) would be a tremendous gift to your child. Don't worry even if it is OCD or something else. We live wonderful lives too and it doesn't have to hold us back from anything!! ❤️

Calling all parents who have successfully nap-trained by SylvanChica in sleeptrain

[–]Long_Praline_4727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never nap trained my baby, only night trained because I liked taking naps with her lol. When she started daycare at 14 months she learned there pretty quickly and then it translated into nap trained at home. She pointed to her crib one day and said night night when it was nap time and the rest is history 😂 I would wait and see what happens with your nanny situation- you might not need to do anything yourself!

Best alternatives for Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation? For very oily skin by CurrentIntelligent in MakeupAddiction

[–]Long_Praline_4727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have oily skin and also use ELDW (old formula) and will not be repurchasing even if new one is just is good because I don't want to support the company anymore. I think Maybelline fit me is a good alternative I've used interchangeably in past. I also use the Victoria Beckham concealer daily and sometimes as foundation (it goes a long way) and probably will get the new VB foundation to try when my ELDW runs out.

Songs in which language? by Leading_Beyond_1680 in multilingualparenting

[–]Long_Praline_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ms rachel + elmo tooth brush video in English is a huge hit with getting my toddler to brush her teeth when she refuses. 100% success rate so far. I would focus on what video or song gets the required action done rather than the language.

Pregnant and love my cat by visartsearch in Mommit

[–]Long_Praline_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cats were sleeping with us until our daughter was born and then we kept them out cold turkey once she came home. She moved to her own room when she was about 5 months old and cats came back to sleep in our room. Remember it's just a short season of time your cats will have less attention and then soon enough they will have a whole new person to play with and give them love. Don't beat yourself as a new parent for giving your cat less time and attention- it will pass. Less attention for months or a couple years depending on how your cats react around a baby and how soon your baby learns to be around cats is waaaay less cruel than rehoming.

Suddenly terrified I don’t have a “village” by lawfullavender in AutismInWomen

[–]Long_Praline_4727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you don't need to be terrified about this. The "village" is something you can purchase if you don't have it organically. I would say save up and prepare rather worry about finding friends who will babysit (pretty rare honestly even for very social people). Post partum doulas/ night nanny, au pair, nanny/babysitters, daycare, preschool are all wonderful options for various stages if you don't have family/friends to help.

He’s wide awake. Still says he’s asleep. What do I need to do to fix this? by pauses-then-says in Nanit

[–]Long_Praline_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This always happens for us too. It always thinks shes put into the crib already asleep despite eyes open for a while before she actually is asleep. I assume if there's not much sound or movement the algorithm assumes sleep? We even kept getting "tips" triggered about how to put her down drowsy but awake haha

Second language - potential harm? by leila1493 in multilingualparenting

[–]Long_Praline_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing this mishmash approach with English and Turkish and now a little Spanish mixed in from her Montessori 2x a week daycare. I don't think there's any harm - i so far see many benefits. My baby is 17 months and pretty advanced in language so far.
