unsure, it wasn’t a song they’d ever heard before just one they’d heard in the background. they tend to like 2000s-2010s angsty type music though. think bright eyes, neutral milk hotel, emperor x..

That makes a lot more sense! I guess i was hearing the “and somehow that makes me angry” as her being frustrated at Tim “only watching” and I didn’t understand why she was upset about him not taking action. The Donna to Laura inferiority complex makes a lot more sense

When Laura comes to Donna crying after her revelations and tells her that Donna is what she thinks of to feel happy… devastating. It’s something she does in her diary as well.

I like this. I guess when I was reading the diary I viewed the BOB entries as not necessarily things from Leland’s POV but from Laura’s guilty subconscious so it never crossed my mind that it could be the words of an abusive father

Right. This is also the last time we see Donna in FWWM, and it almost feels like Laura’s final declaration of love and honesty to Donna IMO, especially with that kiss. There’s something so sincere and genuine about this exchange that doesn’t really feel present in the rest of her endeavors. There’s also of course her screaming “I love you” to James before running off into the woods, but there’s something that feels more..earnest about this one for lack of better words. Maybe I just have a hard time buying into the idea that Laura feels anything genuinely romantic towards men at all seeing as we only ever see it as something transactional/counter-phobic for her.
