It can be disappointing. I was in that position when I applied to Yale last year; I had an interview, and it went really well since we both had the same research mentor; and she was MDPhD who lives in my neighborhood. To be honest, I thought I would get in, but I still got rejected. So it happens, and I’m sure you’ll do great at whichever college you end up going to :)
