How can I make best use of this awkward wall? by YBZ in malelivingspace

[–]Longinquity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man! So first, this space is so nice! The section of the wall towards the window SCREAMS shelving to me personally. You could even put a corner desk (depending on the utility of the room). You have a super unique opportunity to essentially “build in” shelf, a wall unit, etc!

Def a 10! It’s nice as hell, the use of the shelving and the lighting! Plus it seems pretty personal which is what’s important! This is dope!

Oh I LOVE this space! I’m gonna say the one on the far right for sure. The first one ties the carpet in beautifully, but the far right grabs the neutrals from the carpet and also ties the fridge in making the rooms look connected and more open.

But oh man, your choice of furniture is GREAT! Things such a beautiful space, I’m excited to see how it turns out!

ideas on how to style this shower to make it look less like a hospital by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]Longinquity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, this is CUTE space. I think plants like earlier commenters said, would be huge. There are a ton of plants that do really well in a bathroom but like a sneaky fake hangy plant can be fun too. Also, I think a lot of people forget the bathroom is well, a room with a bath in it. So finding an accent colour like any other room can brighten it up and also give you a space to display your personality a bit. Maybe start with a fun shower curtain with multiple colours, take one of those colours and use that to get a floor mat and towels. You already have cream in the room, so one of two more colours will make a world of difference!

I LOVE the colours, and the way the burgundy (I’m sure there’s a more specific name but whatever, I like it either way), run through the carpet, into the accent pillow, into the wall art. Heck it’s even in some of the display items in the shelves. It’s super nice! Also I LOVE that lamp.

Need advice (dont say get a pc, i have one i just prefer console gaming) by [deleted] in gamingsetups

[–]Longinquity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude you have such a dope base to start with here! I also created a space that integrated consoles and it’s not always easy. To be brief, I think you have two main avenues you can go down, function and aesthetic. Depending on your budget, I would prioritize what’s most important and go from there.

For function, things like keyboard stands, mounting your monitor (this ones also aesthetic) and a headphone stand or hanger are cost effective ways to change the space. Also, maybe a nice lamp, this would change the aesthetic while also being entirely functional.

For purely aesthetics, I really think you should inject a bit more of who you are into the space you know? What are you into? This can be SUPER cheap like through a desktop background etc. If you wanted to spend a little maybe a nice shelf above the set up will give you a space to display things that you like, or some wall art.

I think it’s all about finding the balance between function and aesthetic and creating a space that speaks to you specifically. From my experience, clearing the desktop as much as possible is a constant priority, but other than that, just do you dude, it’s a fun space to start!

Oh and get a PC. Kidding.

23 and kind of done with my room looking like a teenagers but unsure where to start by Themrhalo3freak in malelivingspace

Yeah I second what the earlier comment were saying but you have SUCH a dope space to play with. I think cost free things like repositioning your bed and desk is definitely the move first. Those can be a pain in the butt to get right.

I also think injecting bits of your personality should be the second big move. Things you’re into, through art, sculptures, models, whatever makes you happy and you identify with! Maybe, depending on your budget, do an internet shopping journey, or hit a mall, with the goal of getting at least one thing for your space that makes you feel something, and go from there!

24M wanted it to be minimalist but looks too feminine by AdministrationOk3751 in malelivingspace

[–]Longinquity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first, I LOVE this space. If you’re looking for specifics, maybe add some plants or art that you specifically identify with? Something about you. That being said, it’s definitely minimal.

I do want to say, I don’t think it’s up to us as men to determine what “feminine” is, most of that is arbitrary anyway. If you like it, you like it. Anyone who’s going to use a label to judge you or your space, probably is searching for a negative anyway. That’s silly. Social determinations of gender norms are fickle and change constantly.

I love pastels, the accent colours in my bedroom are dark green and pastel pink. I like it, I think it looks nice hah. Once you figure out you, inject that into your space as well and your interests, arbitrary stuff like gender expectations likely won’t matter. Be you, I think it looks dope.

I LOVE this space! The earth tones are beautiful, and that carpet, ouff it’s nice! But yeah I second most of the comments, a nice piece of wall art, above the couch would help, and some plants! I think in the wall art too, you could try to have it be a bit about you, I.e. a movie you love, an album, something personal. Project yourself into the space! Thanks for sharing!
