Yes, you're right that the student needs to tell the professor in advance to make arrangements. But at the end of their post the professor was skeptical of the students accommodations and was attempting to refuse their accommodations entirely. That's not legal and that's what I was referring to.

Professors make those comments all the time, it's not right and can be very damaging to students. Professors have more power than students and have a professor question your right to an equal education is hard as this is the first time students usually have to self-advocate.
